Antoine Semenyo | Considering triggering the £65m release (p13)

I feel like the comparison to Bony is way off.
Think Bony was signed mainly because he had a good game against City ?
I remember him being strong enough to fend off Vinny, not many could do that.
This lad is a completely different type of signing.
His electric pace will be a threat - see his goals away to Liverpool as proof that he is not scared to run directly and score solo goals...

FWIW I suspect all of Liverpool's summer transfers will come good. They're all fantastic players, and whether their current issues are down to adding too many players too quickly, the Klopp era players checking out, Slot not being good enough, Jota's death, standard post win hangover...whatever it is, Isak, Frimpong, Wirtz, Ekitike are all quality. Kerkez could have been a flash in the pan at Bournemouth, but he's also 22 so loads of time to come good.

I also think they were really unlucky the CB they bought did his ACL first game...could have been a very different season if he'd been fit and playing instead of Konate.
Liverpool's new players all looked talented beforehand. They certainly cost a fortune.
But, they are certainly not clicking together as a team.
Whether Slot can get consistent performances out them is questionable ?
Unfortunately, this season, any team can defeat another.
So both LFC & the Trafford Tramps are still well in the hunt for European places...

Bony contracted malaria soon after joining us and was never the same player afterwards.

The Doku that so many claimed would never be good enough only a few months ago.
Without time, even Rodri would have failed, not to mention countless others.
I cannot grasp the seeming inability of some fans to get behind players and allow them to develop.
You cannot develop without minutes on the pitch.
Otherwise, say goodbye to any young players joining the team and sign all the finished articles you wish. I cannot think of anything more boring than that myself.
Doku has been alright recently but let's be honest he's hardly pulling up trees is he? He's currently our best winger though.

How long would you give Savinho and Bobb? The season? Two seasons? At what point do you say this player isn't good enough?

I don't think either are good enough, I don't need to see them both play 100 games to reach that conclusion.

This doesn’t make much sense at all. Have they changed their minds this quickly on Marmoush,Savinho and Bobb?…most fans knew they were not the required standard but why not do it in the summer. Bizarre stuff.
Probably have changed their minds, only 6 months late but nevermind.

If we want Semenyo we have to move in January. Release clause and the dippers sniffing around.

I feel a bit sorry for Marmoush, he's not a winger, he's not a striker, he's a 10. It's terrible squad planning where we have arguably 4 players whose best position in our team would be the 10. Foden, Marmoush, Reijnders and in time Cherki.

I think Marmoush's best position is a false 9 but we ain't playing that unless Haaland gets injured.

Do we hate a guy so much for being tempted by having his wage quadrupled that we'd literally rather see him succeed for our competition than us?

The Sav situation is mad to me, how hard is it to get behind a 21 year old (who was la liga TOTY at 19) and has just signed a long term deal?

The replacments mentioned weren't better than him at 21 (or 19) and he'll likely be better than them at 25. It's a small bit of patience that's required.
I don't hate him. But I do believe he has no business playing in this squad at the current. What he did at Girona or what he may do at 25 is irrelevant. This is Man City, six time champion in the past 8 years, looking to make it seven in nine. That may or may not happen but if we're reliant on the likes of Savinho I'm' certain it won't...

How much use is that against the usual parked bus that we always seem to face?
The problem isn't that our wingers can't beat a man, and get in good positions, either on the outside or the inside, it's what they do with the ball when they get there. The goals and assists numbers from our wingers are truly pathetic.

His general play was yes. A good hatrick against Newcastle boosted his numbers well but has never particularly impressed in terms of touch or vision
He's a sniper, a poacher, a goal scorer. He's nowhere near wank at that...

He seems like a good pro and works very hard. The concern always when buying someone at 25 who hasn’t played at a top club is how they react. Will he feel like he’s reached the top and get complacent like Phillips or does he push on like say Eze at Arsenal?

The other issues for me is switching from a counterattacking setup to facing deep blocks regularly which can negate his pace. Plus he seems to be playing his best football this seasonon the left. We already have Doku, Savinho, Marmoush and Bobb who can play there. Right wing position is very much open.
Maybe no one has noticed but we're not facing anywhere near the amount of low blocks we've seen in the past.
Also, why have so many become afraid to add quality depth and some variety regarding playing skills. We've had tons of that which helped make us a juggernaut under Pep.
