Antoine Semenyo | Medical at City Thursday - Sky (p230)

Have we worked out where Cherki's best position is yet. I think he's played well as an inside right but if Semenyo plays on the right, that displaces Cherki to the no.10 and possibly Foden to the no. 8. Another possibility is thatif Semenyo signs, one of Semenyo, Foden or Cherki will be on the bench. Neither is a problem as we need a strong squad which allows us to make subs. and changes from game to game.

I have been watching Semenyo play for Bournemouth over the last couple of games and he is given license to roam at Bournemouth. He is moving from the right to up front but he isn't going to get that flexibility at City. I also think that one of his strengths is carrying the ball from deep. That works at Bournemouth because they are often under pressure and counter-attacking is a big part of his game. Semenyo is ideal in that role because he can hold the ball under pressure, and he can go both ways, and score. City do not counter-attack so much.

Savinho beats defenders continually but has a poor end product. The stats show that Semenyo has a better end product but I question whether at City he will be able to beat defenders as readily as Savinho does, and as readily as he does playing for Bournemouth. I am still in favour of City signing him, but I don't think it will be a transformative signing. My opinion of him has gone down a little since the transfer speculation started. I have been watching him and he hasn't played well in that time. Perhaps the transfer speculation has got to him or Bournemouth are in a very poor run.

When we were first linked with him I thought great, we are replacing a 0 goal winger for a 9 goal winger (over half a season) but that was probably a bit simplistic. I think Semenyo got a lot of those goals because he is afforded freedom to play where he wants at Bournemouth and because he fits Bournemouth really well. That might not be the case at City. I still want him to sign but I don't think it's going to change the course of the season.
You actually answered many of your own questions there :-)

You think that because we beat forest in a league game and dyche complained about the refs that city will be blackballed? Reality is calling, answer the phone.
Have another look at my post.
I suggested Dyche wouldn't be happy.
Where did I say that he would be a decisive factor in where Anderson is transferred ?
I would imagine, though, that it wasn't just Dyche who wrote to PGMOL ?
Perhaps Forest are upset because they paid over the odds for McAtee ?
You do seem very aggressive and upset though ?

Correct. It’s now 2026 and some people are still wedded to the 1980s idea of a first XI that plays every Saturday, rather than a squad game playing every three days in a five sub era.
Finishers are now as important as starters
Pep will choose what he believes is the best team to win every individual fixture and those to come, as he has done since his arrival
So the more and best options we can give him to achieve that, the better
I fear you may have to repeat this on here until your last breath is drawn :-). The only question people need to ask is Semenyo currently and historically better than Savinho or Bobb. If the answer is yes then as much as one can predict things he will improve the squad.

You clearly implied it.

I'm neither aggressive, not unhappy and note several posters have reacted to your post in a similar fashion to me.

Again, why would forest have any reason to blame us for mcaree and your assertion they "overpaid". How do you know they think that? In fact, it shows that the clubs already do business.

What has PGMOL got to do with us? I'm yet to see any forest source saying "it's all city's fault"

You suggest dyche as a factor, you suggest our recent win as a factor and then pluck Newcastle as a destination.

I suggest, it's all bullshit and irrelevant.

Happy Sunday :)

He'll improve the squad.

I've gone from really liking him at the start of the season though through to watching v Arsenal last night and I've got gradually less excited by the signing.

He's got a decent touch, is strong, works hard and has two good feet. I'm not sure he has the speed of thought and decision making that we usually need though.

That said, if we stick to using him in the matches that suit his skillset, then he'll be a decent addition.

that performance spooked me a bit not gonna lie. seen a lot that i don't like in terms of characteristics in play.

However, it's very different playing in a bournemouth team trying to defend than us, so hard to judge.
I’ve always thought he looked good when I’ve seen them but his control was worse than Marmoushes.

I wouldn't pay a single bit of attention to how he has played in his last 2 games at least.

Exactly. That's what I said in this thread a few days ago. The lad is about to make the biggest move of his life, his head isn't in it anymore, and he won't be taking any risks. Rightly so. Let's see how he does for us.

I know mate but you have to keep plugging away because someone will come out with one of the two brain dead comments

But who will he replace in the starting eleven or

He wasn't very good against....... in the last few weeks.

They're more a care in the community type posts at this time:-)

There's things you can take into account - I wouldn't have been surprised if his commitment dipped, but decision making and speed of thought shouldn't.

None of this is me saying he's bad, I just think he'll be a big help when we can counter, but less of an improvement in games where teams sit deep. He'll still have a part to play.

How he plays is relevant. It shows that some of his goals come from playing in the 6 yard box or penalty area. He wasn't playing as a straightforward right winger vs Arsenal. That means that people like me who made comparisons of Semenyo and Savinho's goals were making false comparisons.

How well he played against Arsenal when a move is seemingly very imminent is irrelevant.
I'm not talking about anything else.
