slightly of thread but how can 240 volts in a house can kill you yet a stun gun (tazer) can give 50,000 volts and just stun you allways wonderd about this

It's not the voltage that kills you, it's the ampage.

High volts at a low amp will give you a nasty shock, low volts at a high amp can kill you.

Like Fitton said it's the current that kills you, but voltage basically pushes the current (amps) around the circuit...the skin is resistant to anything under 50v so basically anything under 50v can't penetrate the skin...if you take a car battery for instance the voltage is anything from 12v to 24v but they have high current..in theory you can touch both terminals of a car battery and be ok...now slit your thumbs and put them across the terminals and you would know about it As the skin resistance has now been removed and the path for the electricity to flow would be straight across your heart so in theory could kill you
