Yeah, that sort of theft where nothing is actually taken away and the owner gets financial compensation negotiated by the rights holder.

Not bought any music since I was an album being sold for £25 and a single at £4.99. Artists and record labels took the piss years ago, now they are paying for it (albeit still having a great lifestyle)

This has been tried with Youtube before, the videos were getting reinstated faster than they could take them down, hence the birth of Vevo. Don't know if they'll have any more luck with Spotify and the fear for the industry is as always a massive exodus back to torrent and pirate websites leaving them with no income whatsoever. They can try to criminalise those too (they've tried here in Ireland) but legislation moves far too slowly to keep up with technology.
