Any ITKs on here know anything about if City is building a new stadium?

So far there has only been speculation, but has anyone heard anything new?

EDIT: Pic of project?

that pic, what is the big circle dome meant to be and the other buildings? looks niceeee!!

Nothing. It's just a proposal/presentation/render which is still available on the architets website. No doubt it was one of many. Apparently the new proposals are being worked on.

Some more interesting info. Tenders are now appearing for site works. £8-£13m. Credit to CDX.

The site works are due to start on May 2010 and last for 6 months. That takes us up to Christmas and then into 2011. I would assume by 2011 plans will have been revealed and planning appliacations submitted for the stadium and lesisure district, with a 2011 start on the proposals. We should be looking at a possible late summer 2012 completion date for the stadium redevelopment, just in time for the new 2012/13 football season. Or it could be a year later? Depending. Just guessing mind.

Short description of the contract or purchase(s):

The design and carrying out of works of remediation and site servicing to land bounded by the City of Manchester Stadium (formerly Commonwealth Games Stadium), Alan Turing Way and Ashton New Road. The project will deliver 7 hectares of site remediation and enhancements that will create a flexible platform to enable and underpin future developments. The design and construct package of works will include:

Design of remediation works for the treatment of contaminated soils and water.

Diversion of utilities where they can’t be retained and protected.

Capping of mine shafts and grouting of coal seam workings.

Decommissioning and removal of underground structures.

Reinforcement of utilities supplied capacities to meet the needs of the scheme.

Earthworks to remove obstructions and to re-profile the site to provide a platform for future development.

Highway modification works including junction improvements.

Validation and regulatory approval of the completed works.

Estimated value excluding VAT:
Range: between 10 000 000 and 15 000 000 EUR.

DURATION OF THE CONTRACT OR TIME-LIMIT FOR COMPLETION:
Duration in months: 6 (from the award of the contract).

Time-limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate:
7.1.2010 - 10:00.

The works commencement date is anticipated to be May 2010.

There is no definitive reason to think that these details are linked to the ground is there?

These site improvements are surely just generic.

You are right in the sense that these site works aren't linked to the 'possible' redevelopment of the stadium, but they are linked to the proposed leisure destination, which will include a redeveloped or non-redeveloped COMS. I'm sure COMS will be part of this new leisure destination in one way or another.

Clearance work to prepare for Man City development
20 Dec 2009, 19:04
Manchester City Council is to clean up 17 acres of prime development land around the City of Manchester Stadium, Eastlands, in preparation for future development.
The council published a £10m-to-£15m tender brief on Saturday that describes 'remediation and site servicing to land bounded by the stadium, Alan Turing Way and Ashton New Road.'
The project will deliver 'a flexible platform to enable and underpin future developments.'
The extensive package of works includes treatment of contaminated soils and water, moving obstructive utilities, capping mineshafts, removing underground structures, increasing utilities to the site and levelling it for development.
New East Mancehster, the urban regeneration company, and the council are expected to make an announcement about significant plans for the area early in 2010.
The remediation works would last six months. The deadline for contractors to apply - only those with at least £17m turnover are invited - is 7 January.
Eddie Smith, chief executive of New East Manchester, told Place this month that talks were ongoing with the Abu Dhabi owners of Manchester City FC over a major development next to its ground.
Manchester City FC fans have been debating on fanzine websites about the possibility of an extension or even new stadium being built by the ambitious owners. Other speculation points to a Las Vegas-style casino complex next to the existing stadium. Paul Gregg, Apollo theatre tycoon and former Everton FC shareholder, has also been linked with the site.
Clearance work is expected to begin in May 2010.
