Never thought for a moment that it would happen at that time. And a deal of that size won't happen until we're in the CL. Er, in my opinion!

Bollocks to that, it nearly finished me off last year. I remember sitting at work thinking we've got him, it was said on here, he was saying bye to the players, their websites were saying he was gone, something was mentioned on a tv station owned by them and then bang they went and bottled it.

I think the whole Berbatov/Robinho one was the most exciting.
Remember going to bed feeling dejected that it looked like we had missed out on Berbatov (who at the time for Spuds was immense), only to wake up to Robinho. OK, he's off the boil at the minute with injuries, and was obviously at odds with Hughes, but based on Bebaflops record i think we got the better side of the deal !
A long as we don't go too far, ie £150m bid fro Ronaldo etc, by being genuinely linked with the top players will only raise our profile. Agree most won't come until we get CL football, but at least it is putting our name out there.

Genuinlly remember that day like it was yesterday, taken over with some bloke saying make us biggest team in world, usual waffle, then we went mad, smiled all day couldnt believe it, we were the biggest news for 3 months solid!!!
