Anyone have a campervan?

Thinking of getting a 3/4 berth fully kitted camper for family weekends away in the sunny UK lol - gone off camping as too much hassel....her indoors wants a classic VW camper, but I dont want something that will spend more time on hard shoulder than roads!

Looking at budget of £10 - £15K - anyone own a camper or can give any advice? Was thinking a Mazda Bongo?

i know two with mazda bongo s and they are class.... you could squeeze two in the roof compartment and two below. it s just not too warm if it got chilly but that is something you could work around. think you can get attachable tents for them too. some only come with japanese instructions only! ;)

dont know where you live but take a drive round "posh" parts of town, just drive round looking in driveways for campers with for sale in the window, chances are the owners are too old to tour or have popped their clogs and the bereaved want rid. get a bargain. check also the p.o. shop widow in the same district.

You have to get it on the road first!

Buying an old VW camper seems a good idea until you buy an old VW camper.

You think I'll just do this and do that and then I'll start using it.

You do this and that but realise that it'd look even better if you did more of this and took some of that off. Then this becomes a bit pointless as that is so much better and makes this look a bit naff. So you take this and the new that off and put more expensive this and thats on. Then you see someone elses this and think that looks brilliant .............



Anyway 18 months later I've done about 200 miles and had a picnic in it. And this and that are still works in progress.

We're looking at getting one and have spoken to a few owners.They all say hire one for a few times just to make sure.
