Exactly, Swales made them sell him. He was our most valuble player at the time and we were broke as usual.
Wish we had Clive now, we wouldn't have to sell him.
I rate him up there with the likes of Lakey, Barnes, Owen, SWP etc, etc... as one of the best players we ever produced.

He was actually a few years ahead of his time, being a solid dependable full back who was equally at ease going forward and taking men on, and delivering ood crosses. A bit unusual at the time, but now a prerequisite of any decent full back.

Did we sell him to finance the Paul Stewart deal? Gutted when he went.
