getting the kids laptops for xmas with a possibal view of getting the mac type things,,,what do i look for and i know they are pretty expensive so can you get them any cheaper on certain sites....ta

hope youve got plenty of cash to burn. looking at this <a class="postlink" href="http://www.apple.com/uk/why-mac/compare/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.apple.com/uk/why-mac/compare/</a> cheapest laptop is £849

captive market, apple set the price and noone can sell them cheaper. i am a fan of macs but unless youve got cash to burn id suggest spending 4-500 on a decent spec laptop (depending what you use it for)

Have you got a friend at Uni or College, if so they can get an student mate, Macs are well worth the money unless they will want them for games and stuff like that .

Not many places will budge on the prices. It's usually full price on apple stuff

Can't fault my MacBook though. About 3 or 4 years old now and still works the same as when I first got it and never had any problems.

Perfect for the kids. No viruses, no need to be a tech wizard. Just work and look cool. My teenage daughter has had my old white Macbook which is now about 4-5 years old. She's had it 2 years and it's never had a single problem. She loves it as do all her mates.

I'd definitely see if you know any students - I think they get a discount of up to 15%, which is a decent amount when you consider the price of MacBooks/iMacs. They also sometimes do offers where students get a free iPod with the purchase of a MacBook, so you'd get an added bonus! :)

I'd definitely recommend Apple products. I bought my MacBook back in 2008 while I was in NY, and I've never looked back. They're incredibly easy to use, worry-free in regards to downloading content off the internet (which would be good for kids, depending on the age) and they look nice :) I got bought an iMac last christmas, and these two products have fully convinced me never to go back to a Window's machine again.
