Apprentice Union?

I am sure as you know my stance on this i am anti-union. I have got in the position i have today, not because i have "leeched' of the union to get my pay and conditions. I worked my balls off, then converted said monies into knowledge, by doing courses and going back to education while i still worked and had a family. So me, myself and i got my pay and condituons, not the tool badgering me and feeding me bullshit for my 'dues'.

So while all you give your dosh to the unions, thinking you have a job for life if anything happens, then good on you. I shall continue to politely turn down the RMT rep, that badgers my lads from time to time also..

And all the credit to you Glen. But there are those out there that don't have the wherewithall to do what you've done. And it's those people that Unions can help.

However, from personal experience, I won't be going anywhere near organised Union affiliation ever again.

A lot of money from subs goes into the pockets of so-called elected officials and once a power base is established, they are very hard to shift.

It's rife and I have no truck with it.

So you are refusing people that work with you access to a RMT Union rep. If you wish to give your location then i am sure this could be resolved. You have no right to do this as the RMT has recognition rights that cover all grades in the rail industry. I have a hunch that you work for Network Rail , this could get interesting.

You stated that `you politelyturn down the RMT rep that badgers my lads`. Therefore you are denying them access to a trade union rep that they are entitled to speak to. They are also allowed access to a union H&S Rep by law. If you are doing this you are breaking the law and would also be in breach of your contract of employment.

To be fair i read that as glen turns them down for himself, i dont see a quote where he says he doesnt allow his lads to join any Union.

I'm sure if the RMT feel that Glen is doing anything wrong they can sort it out for themselves Super Rep. Get down off your high horse before everyone starts getting the impression that you are the kind of person that gives Unions a bad name.

Is why im confused as the other poster has a bee in his bonnet about it.

Odd.

I am done with this subject. To be seen as the minority, when all i have done is secure MY OWN future, without paying for bob crow and his irk, to live a lavish lifestyle on MY dosh. I have myself to thank for my position, just because i don't want to toil for 12 hrs a day, then be thankfull for the same wages as joe bloggs next door, doesn't make me a bad person. Oh and btw, the trackmen that work for me, earn 25% than their equivalent peers in the north west. That's not because of their union ties, but their eagerness to earn and provide a better life for themselves and their families.

Has this country become so dependant on others fighting for their rights? What happened to the get up and go?
