As a FOC I’m pondering on buying the new Fitbit Inspire 3 but have been put off by Posts on the likes of Reddit etc to the effect that Fitbits don’t actually work half the time, only last c18 months at best and that the Strap thing breaks far too easily. So I’m on the Fence as to whether to bother -as I’ve never used any sort of Tracker up to now. My Workouts are basically limited to Walking these days.

Yes imo. They're not very accurate but they give a baseline.

So today iv done 8k steps but the truth is probably 1 or 2k either side, yesterday I did 5k steps, again 1or2k either side. It's all relative, ie I now know I did more than yesterday.

Same with sleep patterns, sometimes I feel knackered but on checking my sleep thing it shows I had enough sleep/deep sleep so it must be something else.

They're not as useful as I thought they would'v been though.

I had a Fitbit Charge 3 for a couple of years before getting a Garmin. The fitbit was fine for me, although that model used my phone GPS, I believe the newer Charge models have GPS built in. Looks like the Inspire 3 uses 'connected GPS', so if you are going for walks and want to track distance and get a map of your activity, you will need to have it connected to your phone and therefore have your phone with you.
As a step counter, it will do the job. It was good at logging activities as well, and the app was superb. I think I prefer the app to the Garmin one if i'm honest, lots of data, easy to look back at previous days for comparison etc. Battery life on fitbits are generally excellent as well. I expect you will get at least a week out of it even if logging multiple activitites.

Amazon product ASIN B07Y4C18N9I use one of these, it works well once you have linked it to the app. The strap broke after daily use but I was able to fit a canvas strap. I have had it for over 3 years and happy with it. It records steps, distance, heart rate, sleep patterns and you can set it to give you a nudge if your heart rate goes too high or you remain seated for too long.
