In the back garden burning my old Chelsea shirt.
I know this sounds like a ridiculous claim to be making but...

it seems to me these days that all a player has to do to be regarded as a world class player is score 25 goals a season on Football Manager. One of the many reasons I've abandoned the Transfer Forum is due to the deludedness in the overrating of some of the players around Europe, 17 year olds that are apparently as good as Messi and Ronaldo seem to be at virtually every club in Europe.

The thing is, it might not seem like it, but ALOT of overseas players that come to the Premier League with big reputations flop. And it isn't a coincedence, I think it's just a measure of how much better the Premier League is than any other league in the world.

I wrote this because I saw the thread about Kaka and in all honesty, I was gutted when we missed out, but thinking about it, I don't know if he'd have set the world alight for the money we were offering.

Think about it, how many players come to the Premier League with huge reps and fail to fulfill them? Alot.

i think our league is a lot more phyiscal to be honest, lots of these foreign players don't like to get knocked so they seem to struggle. it is the really class ones that seem to manage or the well built players who don't mind being rough ( de jong prime example)

and as for kaka i remember watching him vs the scum and the runs he made were absolutley class, even when he wasn't even looking to receive the ball he would make a run to draw defenders out of position. imo he would of been brilliant and when you watch him on the ball he's brilliant. personally i would actually go for messi rather then kaka now, but i know that won't even begin to happen for a good few years.

It's not that the Premier League is that much better - it isn't. It's more down to the style of football. Less emphasis on technical ability and more emphasis on physical ability. There is less time on the ball and tactical aspects of the game aren't as thorough.

I'd also add, that if Sky Sports covered the Bundlesliga or Serie A, both leagues would be ranked much more highly by a lot of English football fans.

I really disagree that the Premier League is superior to any other league. To me there is no best league in the world. Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, even the French League are not inferior, just different. There are players that have flourished in the Premier League, but flopped in others; Kinkladze never hit the heights at Ajax, but that doesn't mean he was vastly overrated, or that the Dutch League is far better than the Premier League. Mark Hughes was another one who never made it abroad.

It is rather ridiculous to see Adam Johnson signed from Middlesborough for £6m being one of the most exciting players on the pitch when we've spent £250m on the rest of them.
