Recovering from malaria and being asked to play in a role that is unnatural for him. Don't get me wrong he's been utter dogshit for us, but in the right team, playing to his strengths, he could be back to the player he was at Swansea.

I'd expect Bony to perform well wherever we trade him next... but for City - he just hasn't cut it.

That is totally ridiculous. No team would ever consider starting a season with a pool of 2 strikers.
Sterling can play striker and whichever winger we likely buy will be able to as well (players like Leroy Sane).

We need to avoid bringing in a backup player. We're unlikely to get anyone better than Bony who's willing to sit on the bench, unless we can uncover a gem of a young player. What we need is a player in the mould of Neymar or Aubameyang. Someone who capable of playing anywhere across a front three, so that when Aguero is fit, he can play out wide, but when Aguero's injured, he can move into a central role. Aubameyang would be decent, but the fact that he chose to represent Gabon means we miss him every other year for a month, which kinda defeats the point of bringing him in. Obviously the other option would be Messi...
