Are you giving anything up for Lent?

Why would anyone give something up for a month to punish themselves?
If you give something up for health reasons or a diet fine, but to give something up because an elderly man in Rome says you have to is just stupid.

Papal decree doesn't say you have to give up anything for lent, it asks you to fast on fridays during the period and only if you are healthy enough to do so, or refrain from eating meat on friday at least

I find people giving up tolberones and such is just tolkenism so they can pat themselves on the back.

Didn’t want a religious discussion, I’m not a Catholic.

I think even if you’re not religious it’s a good way to drop a bad habit or something unhealthy.

By me dropping crisps and fizzy drinks, I’m likely to lose a bit of weight in the process.

I see the Rags and Dippers started early and are giving up points for Lent.

nice one.
i've always cut crisps/fizzy out during week. then allow it saturday/sundays
Booze will be going too around that time as the Mrs is due in a few weeks.

Can’t be getting plastered downstairs and stumbling to bed then!

Hopefully by the summer I resemble something healthy.
