Are you missing home games or are you not too mithered?

Went to the Everton game and thought yes I've missed this a lot, the smell, the noise, seeing a game played out in front of me rather than the telly, no crap commentary and daft punditry (though I'm sure I'll end up sat near one of those :). Hell yes I miss it.

It’s a catch 22, telly coverage is convenient especially when the weather is shit, but I cannot abide gobshites like Ratboy and co.
the odd thing is for the last three or four years I have been turning the volume down so no crowd noise hasn’t mattered to me. Going to the game has too many fuck abouts even before VAR, it’s too sanitised, I am 56 and feel like I’m in a straight jacket having to sit there quietly. If I want to call a player or the referee a fucking **** then obviously this is going to offend some people, in the old days a natural grouping would take place whereby agitated foul mouth yobs like me could stand alongside fellow vulgarians. these days your likely to get plod paying you a visit in your seat as actually happened for me in the Main Stand at Maine Road. Having said all that I have been a nomad in recent years which itself can be a pain in the arse.
bring back standing for those who want it.

I'm only 28 and feel the same re the sanitised atmosphere in the stadiums now. It's a good stress relief to let it out on a Saturday, I'm often a bag of nerves if watching at home on the TV. I'll be renewing, just interested to see what swapping names on tickets will be like going forward as I often take a plus one if my dad can't go.

A lot of folk have become used to the "new normal".
A bit of a reevaluation going on by match going fans, cost v live matchday experience. All football clubs need to be aware of this and get some sweeteners in place to bring the crowds back
Football is pointless without fans!
My 4 season tickets worked out at around £95 for each home game before petrol and some food (not in the ground). Covid has definitely made me re evaluate spending north of £2500 a season. Not sure if I’m going to renew as the match day experience is pretty crap. If I want to have a day out on the lash and go to a couple of games a season I ll just pick up a spare from someone or buy one from the club at face value. Will still work out a lot cheaper

im missing the mates gathering to go and watch a game of footy, singing & having a laugh. The feeling you get when the ball hits the net. You also see a different game than watching tv games, you notice the special player with a high work rate, you feel the game as it is rather than pundit influenced.

but i dont miss the s**t at the everton game that i went through just to get in the stadium, as long as we are still restricted this way i wont be going. Once in the stadium it wasnt to bad, a bit more relaxed. But spread out and empty seats all over isnt how i want to see a game.

i dont miss sunday games or 5pm games on a saturday at all. When we are back to normal and i buy a season card i will very rarely go to a sunday game or awkward saturday KO time. We have all found things to do, a silly KO time from now on will be kicked in to touch.

I really miss during the week evening games, breaks the week up nicely.

As it's a nearly 600 mile round trip and evening games means staying over. I am missing that time spent with my lad, great father and son time. So I miss that.

As for the game it self I miss the crowd, the singing, the swearing lol, the sence of belonging. Going back to my birth place.

BUT VAR is slowly ruining my enjoyment of going to the game. Ruling goals off side by a finger nail after 5 minutes of looking at it. Of course doesnt happened at utd or liverpool games as it's a goal for them or ruled out against them ;( .

Being sat in the stadium and not having a clue where or who is of side etc.

We watched one European game cant remember which game, City won about 6 or 7 nil , but the first 4 goals took about in all over ten minutes to be looked at to be awarded a goal , yet only about 3 minutes injury. By the end of the game we only saw about 75 minutes of football, 15 minutes on VAR but not added on playing time.

Yes I still want to go but if VAR carries on being used to fix games my match going days will be numbered.

Whilst nobody can go, there's no FOMO and it's much much easier to handle not going. The upcoming season where its looking likely we will have reduced capacity but still more than half empty stadiums for at least the first half of not the entirety of the season is when a lot of people will really start missing it properly. Seeing crowds on TV, hearing the chanting, seeing social media posts and stories from mates will all add to the feeling of missing out and make it much worse. This past season has been the easy bit, it's what comes next if you're not one of the lucky ones that will be harder to take.
