Upon watching the video I see the inside of the mask for a split second then the face sticks out, good little optical trick.
But Schizophrenics see the inside of the mask and not the new face?
I'm not sure about the video, its there to illustrate how our eyes transform an image into one that makes more sense. So instead of seeing the inside of a mask, the eyes translate it into a regular, more natural, image of a face.
The picture posted is, apparently, an image of the "inside" of a mask. So its bends inwards. Our eyes swap it so it appears to be bending outwards. Schizophrenics, apparently, see the image as it is (the inside of a mask) not the translated, outward, image.
