Aren't football fans strange?

For the past couple of months, hundreds of City fans have been queuing up on here to defend the retention of Hughes as manager as he needed, and I'll quote..."time to build his own team".

Very noble.

So how come, today, I've read hundreds of posts, probably be the self-same City fans, on here absolutely berating the possible signing of RSC?

"One season wonder... sicknote... not good enough... not worth the money..."

So even though Hughes is desperate to sign him, he's the manager's number one target, he's a main plank in Hughes "building his own team"... just about no-one is convinced he's right for us!

So much for letting the manager build his own team!

fully agree! if you want him to stay which i do, trust the decisions he makes, even if we dont think its right, at the end of the day hughes is the professional at the job not us

im all for letting him build, but RSC is not worth the sort of money we will have to pay. hughes did say we wouldnt be held to ransome over signings and it seems like we already are? especially by that crook fat sam?

If we give in to Fat Sam...it will give every other team carte blanche to name their own exuberant prices for players we want...

Drop it now Mark Hughes.

hughes is attempting to build a team.

we need a stiker to play off, someone with know how, someone who can hold the ball and bring players like swp and robinhio into the game, santa cruz fits the mould perfectly.

scoring goals hasnt been i big issue this season, but our results have dipped with the inclusion of vassell and benjani in the side, 2 players who simply dont have the football ability to help city up the tabe.

also santa cruz will allow city to mix the play up a little, we can aim for him, it will provide an easier out ball.

we have i believe scored one headed goal this season.

also a fundamental problem with the present city side is that when a team drops off, we struggle to find space to play in, our present line up requires teams to come on to us, allowing swp and robinhio in behind.

santa cruz is ideal, and i would happily take mccarthy off blackburn as well.

also bellamy would make an excellent addition to the team, a mobile forward who doesnt need the ball to his feet, has pace and will stretch opposing defenders.

instead of whining because we are minted, and kaka hasnt arrived, try looking at the present side, and think how you would actually improve it, given time and support mark hughes will achieve success with city.

I still can't get a coherent answer about whether we are operating a dual transfer policy, Hughes plus ADUG.

I think we should forget Santa for the money they are asking and bring in Kevin Davies and Kevin Nolan instead both give 100% and would knock one or two about!

Absolutely great post, nice to see someone on here who actually knows
about football and doesn't just want to sign superstars.
Santa's a great player and will provide much needed power and passionto the front line.

Well, what we have plenty of is money. What we are short of are points and loads of good, available players with Prem. experience.

I say go for whats available and save the Season; we can still qualify for Europe next season from league position and don't forget MONEY IS NO OBJECT!

any signings we make in an ideal world cant be uefa cup tied. Did anyone watch Milan against Pompey and notice that they took Kaka off early, he wasnt injured just wasnt having any impact.

then we'll sign no fucker. every team out there will hold us to ransom ffs

I thought one of the attributes Hughes bought to the club was the ability to spot a bargain, or a cheaper player that would thrive in this league.

So why are we scared of getting players from outside the league, have a look at elephant man with Valencia and Palacios.

we've gambled wayyyy to much over the past 18 mths, a few proven players to help push on to the end of the season, but who will still be usefull as squad players, seems reasonable. don't want to clog up the squad with a load of people who just don't get the premiership and are difficult to shift.

If you look at the Bellamy transfer posts in August pretty much nothing has changed those that thought it was crap then think its crap now, the only change is those that support Hughes where using "of course we are not looking to sign him it's just press talk(and that was before the takeover!).
