Argentina looked good because they were good, in fact for the first 70 mins they were bloody brilliant. To demean that by saying it was due to France is just wrong

Not a lover of Didier Deschamps, but we witnessed a masterclass in coaching, he clearly got selection wrong but he realized and changed it without question and nearly pulled off a seemingly impossible comeback.

Compare his reactive coaching to the traffic cone that is Gareth Southgate.

An unbelievable final. It seemed like Argentina were coasting to the win, the French were horrific for the majority of normal time. But they sent the big lads on, Mbappe stepped up and they got back into it. I'm not a fan of Mbappe but his second goal was sensational, he got a hattrick in the final and he put three penalties exactly the same way and scored them all. Huge plums. From nowhere France were back in it. Then Argentina got their heads back and got the lead in ET, but even then they couldn't hold on and the French almost pinch it at the end - that was a world class save from Martinez and then down the other end the Argentinians should have won it themselves!

A brilliant game that was end to end. Argentina probably folded and went cautious a bit too early. The manager wanted to protect the lead but it enabled the French to have more comfortable possession and play it to their taller stronger players, similar to the Dutch. That almost cost them, but then at 2-2 he made changes to go and attack them again. Deschamps was bold in his changes and they nearly paid off. To get that close when the likes of Kimpembe, Kante, Pogba, Nkunku and Benzema were all at home - the French are stacked!

Nah. French players were shocked Argentina were these good in first half. That midfield with players from "mid clubs" absolutely dominated France. France didn't realise these would happen. France had weakness and luckily Got away against England & Morocco

That first half was one of the best displays I've ever seen by an international side.

It was a game that you just dream of. It had literally everything you could ever want in a game and to watch it as a neutral was brilliant. Imagine if that had been City or even an england game, i think id of been sat in a dark room till new year recovering.
