My daughters laptop (which used to be mine) its a sony vaio which i updated from vista to windows 7 home premium. It wont let us in, it is just a blank black screen with the windows 7 home premium logo in the middle and the options for disabled access in the bottom left and the shut down options tab on the bottom right. so far i have restarted it and it told me it was installing 2 updates then it restarted and i got the usual windows starting colours thingy now its just blank so i cant put in password or anything. I could do without the whinging of a 14 year old who cant access facebook or twitter or homework etc. What can i do i also dont fancy forking out for another laptop. I initially took the battery out and put it back in again as that is about the extent of my technical ability. The battery light is on whe wireless light is on and the disk drive light is either on solidly for a while then intermittently. Please assist if you are able. sorry for the long post and thanks Bumble

Sorry for bumping. I still could do with some help all that has happened since is that i keep installing updates its up to 12 so far one block of 2 updates one of 9 and now one of one. Still got blank screen and no password box after windows has started. thanks again bumble

Hi fella,

Turn on the laptop and hold alt+f10 this will put you in Sony recovery mode. From here you can backup your files if there is anything on there? and also completely reinstall windows. This will i am afraid put it back to Vista but you can always upgrade to Win 7 no problem!

Thanks
