Redknapp predicts City scrap
Spurs boss sees City as European rivals

Harry Redknapp feels the fight for fourth place in the Premier League has become a two-horse race between Tottenham and Manchester City.

Redknapp's Spurs have been battling Chelsea for the final UEFA Champions League spot of late, but the reigning champions displaced them in fourth on Tuesday after a 2-1 victory over Manchester United.

City once looked on course for title success but a recent dip in form has left them just two points ahead of the Blues and three ahead of Tottenham having played a game more than both teams.

Spurs boss Redknapp believes Chelsea are certain of European qualification and feels the fight for fourth place will come down to his side and Roberto Mancini's City.

Such a battle would be a repeat of last year's contest between the two, when Spurs pipped City to the spot to secure Champions League football for the first time in their history.

Redknapp said: "I don't see Chelsea not being in the top four. I felt before the Liverpool game, which they lost, that they could still win the league.

Strong

"If they had beaten Liverpool that day they would have been in a very strong position.

"They are a very strong outfit. I still think Tottenham can be in the top four, and I think it's between ourselves and Man City now."

Redknapp has been impressed with his squad's ability to juggle their league commitments with European football this season.

And the manager is confident his players are good enough to cope with what could be a hectic run-in if they beat AC Milan at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.

He added: "For us to be where we are in the league and to have had such a great season in the Champions League is a fantastic achievement so it hasn't affected us at all - we have managed to fight on both fronts and have done great."

Gutted...he thinks now we will miss out and is so confident they will make it.

I would like to silence this guy. Or do you guys believe we will miss out?

He's probably right.

He's probably not right its just a case of typical city and nerves creeping in on our part. I'm confident we will finish 3rd and them and Chelsea will fight it out for 4th, with spurs sneaking it.

We have spend so much and have pretty much better players in our squad...im gutted that Spurs are still so close to our ability. When will we make the gap bigger?

If we fail to get the Cl spot and spurs take it...it will make our task next season only harder.

And just because Chelsea won the rags because of ref decision doesn't make me believe they will surely make it. They have hard games coming and still have to play United at OT.

I wouldn't say they have a top 4 spot guaranteed....

He didin't say it. But it looks like he is either confident or he is really scared of missing out. Do you see Mancini talking about it?

The guy is just trying to put pressure on us.

To be fair to him, that's his job.

put pressure on you in what way? we're all under pressure to finish top 4! it's massive for us as it is for you. What difference if Mancini talks about it or not? its unlikely he'd say anything that different to what Harry's said. Think you're being paranoid mate I don't think it's a message to City or anything

He is either confident or scared lol, covering your bases there.

And yes, only this week Mancini said on the OS that he sees the Spurs game as being a crunch game in the fight for fourth spot. So I did see him talking about it.
