I agree there’s no need to be negative at this present time. We’re still playing good football: top scorers in the league, most passes, most shots and the 4th most amount of clean sheets. This start to the season we would’ve gotten away with a few years ago, but because of how high us and Liverpool have now set the bar, anything short of a unbeaten season seems like a failure.
However, let’s say worse comes to worst, we finish 3rd or 4th, knocked out early again in the champions league, no fa cup or league cup. You’d be standing there saying “Well look how much we’ve won recently, look at what we use to have and how far we’ve come, the football we’re playing is the best I’ve ever seen”. The fact is we need to start acting like a big club and realise we set a bar over the last few years, and if we fall short of it this year by quite a margin, we can’t make excuses just because of how bad we use to be.
If that worse come to worst season I just said occurred, am I not the only one thinking Pep’s job would be on the line?
