Lets all hope (the Hughes Inners, Outers, and Fence Sitters included) that we beat Arsenal in the quarter finals of the Cup and then go on to win against Chelsea in the league.
Arsenal are on a low and are wounded so I fully expect they will come out all guns blazing. Chelsea are on a high and will feel invincible and relish the thought of playing against our somewhat shaky defence, so two big crunch tough games ahead.
I want Hughes to succeed but I have very serious doubts he has what it takes on the field, he is a great talker and off field representative, but it is winning that ultimately matters. I feel we are going backwards faster than a Ferrari Formula 1 car can go forwards, at the present moment, but I desperately want Mark Hughes to prove me wrong, for the sake of stability, to reward our owners for their investment in us and because I want a winning City team sooner rather than later (I'm getting a bit old and running out of time).
If we win these two games we should all unite, at least for now, and get fully supportive and fully committed to the team and manager.
Personally I could accept, albeit reluctantly at this stage of our development, beating Arsenal and drawing or losing to Chelsea.
Two defeats however would be disastrous for fan unity, team morale, our expansion plans going forward and would also be a massive nail in the coffin of this season, the Hughes style of football and the Hughes Blueprint for success.
Perhaps more importantly it would also be disastrous for my morale, 'Depression Counsellor on stand by please' and this site would go into frenzied meltdown (and thats just me posting never mind the others).
So imho this is a critical and pivotal point in our season, will it be 'Same 'ol City' (yes Garry 'City') or onwards and upwards?
Lets hope and believe it will be a turning point for Manager and Team, even as a marginal Hughes outer I certainly hope it will be ONWARDS AND UPWARDS TO OUR FIRST TROPHY AND BEST LEAGUE PLACE FOR YEARS, HOPEFULLY A TOP 4 SPOT.
So for these next two games lets all set aside our concerns and get 100% behind team and manager. C'mon the Blues you can do it.
