Arsenal (H) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Well done Mancs, through to the next round. When I saw Arteta’s team selection, I realised the FA Cup clearly wasn’t his priority. My point about our not having your strength in depth was proven last night as those that came in to cover are not at the same level. Having said that, we didn’t do too bad against a City side that laboured to beat us. Should be interesting to see how we fare against you at the Emirates.
By then we may have our first choice players of Dias, Stones, Foden, and Walker fully fit plus Bernardo back on form. That was not City's strongest team last night at all despite the media narrative. That said I thought your team played well in the first half but ran out of steam. The rest of the trilogy will be interesting to watch.

I doubt you were at the game - the idea we all left with 15 minutes to go is complete bollox. No one left until the end.
All of yer didn't leave, but there was a noticeable chunk at the front of SS2. Mind, if I had to make my way to Piccadilly and put my faith in Aviva West Coast getting me back for the next game at the Emirates, I'd have left after the first half kick off!

Semi concussed, my arse. He played the ref, staying down and feigning a head injury when we had a break on. Gamesmanship is what it was.
I thought so too. About time we involved ourselves in some of that. I sit with my brother and we had a laugh about that, sorry!

Had paid for a ticket on the FA Cup scheme but didn’t go last night. My Google Wallet still showing the Wolves match when I checked last night and this morning so wouldn’t have been able to get in anyway.

What is going on?
Yer can always get in - the guys at the ground would sort it out. I went to a game some weeks back and my phone was still showing the Rag game ticket - three attempts to refresh and it was the third attempt that gave me the right game. I think if I turned up without my phone I'd still be able to get in.

6. Since Aguero left we cannot retain possession from a throw in! Our default game plan was simple, find Aguero and he would set the pattern.
From foul throws, to throwing to the opposition, we simply have no game plan.
Other teams know exactly where they are going before picking the ball up, we have no clue, spend far too long thinking about it before giving up possession cheaply.
A basic understanding of football that we regressed on.
This is why I find myself getting agitated when we let the ball go out for throw ins rather than chase the ball and continue to play. Added to this you are always at the vagaries of a linesman's interpretations as to who the ball came off, as with the incident with Walker in the dying minutes of last night's game.

One more observation for today for a certain poster (you know who you are).

You were adamant that a trio of Rodri, Gundogan and De Bruyne was "too slow" and would get ripped apart against a younger 'more mobile' mid. I told you the inclusion of Gundogan over Bernardo was crucial he tends to drive through the mid, dragging them with him and finds the pass through the lines, whilst you thought Bernardo's energy was better.

Unless Bernardo picks up form (he plays like he's no longer interested), he'll not be starting barring injury or lesser tiered games.

Sure De Bruyne is still slightly out of form, but the position he held was where I wanted him and also Alvarez, when he came on, also occupied (you said shouldn't as it was "suicidal").

You also thought Cancelo was better over Aké on the left and thought Grealish should be left out.

Sooo...

Last night showed me you simply don't know what you're talking about.
Listen, all the other things you're saying not withstanding, if you think Gundo and/or KDB are better choices than Bernardo at the moment you don't know what you're talking about.

It was refreshing to see our keeper make some great saves instead of the oppositions first shot going in. (Don’t mean to be harsh on Ederson who has contributed to our success)

As for the keepers distribution not being at the game last night I don’t know but what options did he have last night when kicking out? It’s not like at the moment we are bombing on forward in numbers.

Did you forget Southampton games with Ortega as Keeper?

Missed it yesterday coz on the lash in the fine beer town of Derby, but just watched most of it this morning.
I hope Haaland starts getting some decisions, just because he is big, strong, quick, doesn't mean the ref can try to level the playing field by penalising him when fouled against! 90secs into the game he gets goalside of Holding who clatters him from behind then drags him down by the shirt - free kick... to Arse??? Fuckin joke! And the same player later elbows him in the back of the head with impunity, that's bent.
