Arsenal - Post match thread

You are trying to silence me for having an opinion because I wasn't there(and no I wasn't having a go before anyone had left I wasn't even on the forum during the game, I posted when everyone was already discussing it get your facts right), again deluded sense of privilege THAT's the logic there's read my edit I know you'd come back with a lame strawman... there's bigger blue than you, spending far more than you who've been going longer than you who said the exact same thing... and you tell me this isn't you being over privileged? Bollocks put me on block for all I care I think it's disgrace the way some of you act: "Im a big time charlie been supporting years go to every game" get over yourself.

It's not even about an opinion, to a degree. I can easily see and accept the logic of those who have critiqued those who left early. I can easily take on board the defence of Manuel, because ultimately it's difficult to slag him off. What I find appalling about your input to the debate is how you have massacred Blues as to how they support the club when you're not even there. You may have been a fan for decades or you have only recently jumped on board, I don't know simply because I don't know who you are, but as you've admitted you've weren't there on Sunday yet you slaughter those who were. I wouldn't be surprised if you've only recently got on board, that would explain your attitude towards match going Blues, but regardless you're out of order, NOT for having an opinion but for knifing match going Blues.

How have I massacred I just don't want our fans turning into what they hate, no more than that. Again going to the match doesn't give you some shield to hide behind and attack others for having an opinion you don't like(I'm so not having that, stop trying to spin it, massacred/knifing my ass... again you were wrong in your assertion I was bashing fans before they'd left so I wasn't "that prick" you're clearly trying to add more gravity to it but it's not there) I know damn well they care we all do, some are just going the wrong way about it, some are just following the cool kids as it were.

I'm not saying I'm the biggest blue or that I'm more privileged than you I just think some of the behavior recently has been wrong, I can see why they feel angry but there a right way and wrong way to handle things for me and I will speak my mind sorry. What's the best way to handle it for the club should always be your answer not some selfish I'm the biggest blue in the world so I do what I want attitude.

First chance to post since the game yesterday.

I know we still have one match left to go, but to me it feels like the season has already ended. It was a strange season in many ways... we won a cup, something all of us would have been delighted with ten years ago. We got to the Semi-Finals of the Champions League, something very few would have ever imagined possible ten years ago... Yet the overall feeling is disappointment, it shows how far we have come as a club in this time!

I stayed for the end of season speeches yesterday, not out of any particular loyalty to Pellegrini, in the past I have always stayed for these things so to me it just felt like the right thing to do.

The fact that the majority did not stick around yesterday doesn't sit well with me though. I understand the reasons for it, but the club isn't just about the manager, which is just as well given the amount I've seen come and go ( and I'm only 30!). The club isn't just about mercenary squad players - again, I've seen plenty of those too (Steve McManaman etc). We criticise the players when they don't turn up for matches, or put in enough effort. What about us though? What about when we don't turn up for them?

It wasn't just Pellegrini that was snubbed yesterday it was Hart, Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne, Aguero (who may still end the season as top scorer). Did those players in particular not deserve a show of appreciation for their efforts this season? If Real Madrid or Barca come calling for Aguero in the summer, we would hope that even after a disappointing season as a club he would show us some loyalty and stay. Maybe Aguero would have expected some loyalty from us yesterday…

Following the takeover and the success we have experienced and money spent, expectations have increased, not just from City fans but from neutrals and in particular the media. I don't like the way City are viewed by neutrals, certain journalists and many pundits, but at the same time I don't care. They are not associated with Manchester City, they don't get it the way we do. I do care what our fans think though and I’m sure our owners care when negatives are associated with City as a club and our fans.

It concerns me that yesterday might not be a one off. What happens if Guardiola doesn't get to grips with the league straight away, or it takes a while for a few new signings to gel? We are getting the most sought after manager in world football. The man who could get any job has chosen to work for Manchester City - that is how highly our club is now rated! Who knows what Guardiola will have made of the post-match scenes yesterday, but he can’t have been impressed. We bemoan the media coverage that the club and even our fans receive, yet yesterday we gave them the opportunity to justify everything they have ever said about us. Spoilt, plastic fans, Emptyhad, every cliché they trot out we lived up to.

I appreciate that survival in the premier league isn’t the first thing on everyone’s minds any more (even if I’m secretly pleased when we hit the 40 point mark), I appreciate that no longer are we just happy to be there... but at the same time I never want us to forget where we came from. It defines who we are and it separates us from other clubs and their misplaced sense of entitlement. At one time it took character, a tough skin and a good sense of humour to be a city fan. I don’t expect anyone to mark this season down as our best, but it certainly isn’t our worst.

Regardless of Champions League football, a new era starts at City next season, we all hope it will be a successful one. I just hope we play our part too, that yesterday was a one off show of apathy, a reflection of a weird season on and off the pitch. Personally I will be glad when this season is officially over, I'm excited to see the type of football we will play under Guardiola and which players he recruits. Bring on next season!
Probably the best post I have ever read on here. Well said

Again you're making it about your opinion. Opinions are like arseholes and all that. You're sounding like the very media we have to put up with. You're making out like the fans have thrown their toys out of the pram, when in actual fact that they have only shown the players and the manager the same level of respect shown to them for the last 18 months. There's no shield and there's no hiding, simply a defence of our love for this club and the manner in which we have shown that we are disappointed by the actions of the on-field staff for the past two seasons. Given your use of terminology, I'm going to assume that you're American. I'd be interested in how you view the actions and opinions of the New York City fanbase towards Manchester City...

Just seen this on Arsenal mania. Priceless

The difference between us and City is exactly that, they've had success overnight, we've struggled, had terrible lows, watched seasons collapse with an injury or a young prospect suffer with a shattered leg. We've had the worst night in Paris. We've watched team after team humiliate us with huge scorelines. We've watched Birmingham pounce on a mistake in the last minutes. Watched our best players leave us. That's the sort of stuff that creates a strong fanbase and strengthens your love for a club.

City just can't replicate that with money. Love went into this club. They'll never have that.

Haha

Maybe they should have added 'clueless' and 'self-adsorbed' to the description of Arsenal fans.

Rubbish absolute rubbish... Again all I see from you is privilege you are giving me YOUR opinion in everything you posted there you do realise this? I'm from Manchester pal, stop trying to make yourself feel better.

Again from my last post:

"I'm not saying I'm the biggest blue or that I'm more privileged than you(again that's just lazy shitty attitude IMO) I just think some of the behavior recently has been wrong, I can see why they feel angry but there's a right way and wrong way to handle things for me and I will speak my mind sorry I found what I mentioned wrong and I will say it again if happens again. What's the best way to handle it for the club should always be your answer not some selfish I'm the biggest blue in the world so I do what I want attitude."

We are all disappointed with this season, City have been through much worse, since when do we turn on each other like this or bash players and managers in such an over the top manner? Don't tell me it's always been like this I know it and you know it's not true.

Ok, you're from Manchester, if you say so. Word of advice; please don't use the term 'ass'. Or am I too privileged in saying that? Privileged, for fucks sake...

Let's just agree to disagree...

Word of advice for you why not just say you disagree in the first place rather than incorrectly claim I'm some guy who posted something that upset you(and that's putting it nicely enough said though)... also don't be too over defensive, I didn't agree with some of what happened and want to see a bit more unity there was no need to get that upset about it. People are entitled to have their say on some of what happened on Sunday and whether they agree with it etc. you can have your say without making it personal.
