If you look at successful teams with sustained success all of them will have been bank rolled with investment at some point. Liverpool were funded via Littlewoods, United were floated on the stock exchange to raise money and they bought Taggert a team that would have cost a lot more than any team built today when you factor to in inflation. You look elsewhere in sport in motor racing, the two most successful teams recently in f1 are funded by a car manufacturer in Mercedes and an energy drinks company in Red Bull.
What’s wrong with having ambitious owners who enter a sport to shake up the monopoly of other teams? It’s what keeps it interesting, or should the likes of Mansour or Abramovich not have bothered and left it all to United to win it every year?
These Arsenal supporters get a whiff of a trophy and they get on their high horses when they have a set back. Prior to this we’ve heard them all crying about how badly run the club was since they’ve moved away from Highbury and had to pay for the Emirates.
