2 signings so far have been good but with injuries and departures the squad is clearly 2-3 players short.

Desperately need quality cover for Rodri, a creative midfielder and a winger with pace. If Phillips is never going to be used there's no point in him being there - Rodri is the only player in the squad we can't cover.
I wouldn't disagree with any of that but, if Pep has lost all faith in Phillips, it does beg the question as to why there don't appear to be any serious efforts on behalf of the club to move him on in this window.

People talking about us being weaker.

Kovacic is not identical to Gundo but has already slotted in nicely. Josko is already looking an upgrade on Laporte.

So far so good.

Mahrez is a blow as he was a major part of our successes and it's debatable whether Cole or anyone we buy will be at his level. But Bernie and Phil can play there equally well.
With more game time for Alvarez that's a plus.
The elephant in the room is Kevin's injury, but if Phil continues to perform like that then we only really need as new winger.

Very happy with the players that we have brought in. The squad could do with a couple of extra bodies (assuming that Cancelo and Laporte both leave) especially given the current injury situation. If we buy a couple before the window closes, that would be great. If not, it should give a bit of an opportunity to some of the fringe/younger players.

I find it a bit weird how late we've left it, I know Mahrez leaving wasn't exactly the plan and the market had gone insane, but still doing business once the season has started isn't ideal.

Our players are so versatile and coaching so good that we can definitely get away with operating a smaller squad, but just two or three players out and suddenly our squad begins to look very slim.

I reckon we'll get Doku and that's it, which will mean we've reduced that age of the squad and refreshed it a bit which is a vital process, but the overall quality and depth will be roughly the same.

The biggest concern is cover for Rodri still, but personally I think Kovacic could do that job very well.

You've completely disregarded the outgoings and the lengthy injury to Kev. As of right now, midfield and attack is stretched thin.

I think it's telling Pep made no subs on Saturday. He was making a point.
Pep doesn't make subs in tight games either regardless of the players on the bench. We haven't signed cover for Rodri however the Kalvin Phillips signing hasn't worked out (we only signed him last Summer)

Along with the players who we have given new deals to.
We are weaker at this point in time than last season, that doesn't equate to a 8 out of 10 window regardless of new deals, get 1 or two in before the end of the window and you have an argument

Mitrovic gone for £43M but Laporte for less than £25M. How’s that happened then?

With the two signing it does. We already signed Gundogan's replacement. We have signed Laporte's replacement. Cole Palmer has got a chance to replace Mahrez even if Doku arrives (no guarantees and hardly make or break). Fodenand S
Alvarez can step up in Kev's absence. If we didn't sign anyone or even if we did move Bernardo Silva on then you would have a cause to moan about the lack of signings.

'Palmer has a chance to replace mahrez' the disrespect to mahrez here is laughable.

Alvarez is not kdb

We are weaker than last year, 2 of our best players left and kdb injury, you thinking its an 8 out of 10 window is crazy, it's been an average window, 6 or 7 at push

I would sooner wait until the right player comes along though
Than sign for numbers sake

And yet Cole Palmer is showing signs he is ready to step up. Along with the contract renewals and the two new signings it bumps it up.

Fair enough point but that doesn't take away that our current window hasn't been an 8 out of 10, stupidity to think so and underpins kdb, mahrez and gundo contributions/ability

OK mate you think that, glad our manager doesn't think the same as you
Pep hardly uses his bench in tight games to begin with. Eddie Howe made 4 subs to little effect. Pep doesn't work with a deep squad either and barely rotates. We wasted money on Kalvin Phillips and to some extent Sergio Gomez.

We will sign 1 or 2 before the window closes as this window has been a 6 or 7.

The good

- Kovacic looks to fit the team like a glove , great on the ball with a lovely drop of the shoulder and burst of pace to break the lines in midfield. Looks like he will playa bit deeper than Gundogan and doesn’t make many off the ball runs in behind but a class act

- Gvardiol, the lad oozes class and will be difficult for Ake to get in ahead of, much more going forward and likes to carry the ball. We should have at least 10 years of this kid - great to watch how good he‘ll become

- looks like all the sad faces will get there moves, Cancelo , Laporte and Mahrez. Should make for a happier dressing room

- With only 2 signings made so far , the kids will get chances if it stays that way.

The bad

- only two signings on an already small squad , we need at least one more midfielder , ideally someone who has more attacking to their game

- missing out on three midfield targets. Bellingham was always going to be difficult but we were half arsed and opportunistic on Rice, doesn’t normally fit with our usual approach. The Paquetta move has stalled due to bad luck, although could be a blessing as he’s not worth the £85m we were going to pay for him.

The Ugly

- what was the plan for when Mahrez left, we’re we going to give Palmer the chance or are we going to replace. Looks like this has caused uncertainty behind the scenes. Not sure if Doku is the answer, more of a development player which we already have in Palmer

- we still seem to have a reluctance to spend big money, even though we are awash with cash. Peps recent comments betray the feeling within the club that they are sensitive to jibes about our spending. That ship has sailed so start blowing teams out of the water if we feel they are essential.
