Noticed Gai Assulin played for Israel Under 21's against England last night.
Israel were winning 1-0 when he was substituted in the 56th minute.
After that England banged in four goals. Did anyone watch the game?
Please don't tell me he's injured cause I was looking forward to seeing him
play against Birmingham in the League cup.

He's not injured. He looked great. Quick feet and set up their only goal.

The manager was a moron, subbed him, and they got overrun because England put in better players.

Israel Under-21 coach Guy Luzon thinks Manchester City youngster Gai Assulin needs to play first-team football.

The 20-year-old moved to the Etihad Stadium in December 2010 after his deal at Barcelona expired but he has yet to make his debut for City.

Assulin impressed for Israel Under-21s in the 4-1 defeat to England on Monday night and Luzon thinks the midfielder needs to play more football to improve his game.

"The squad at Manchester City contains all the stars from the world and I don't think a young player can play at Manchester City," he told the press after the game at Oakwell.

"Tevez doesn't play at Manchester City. The squad at Manchester City is like the squad at Barcelona and it is very hard to play.

"I think when he plays it can show his quality. He has the quality to play in England.

"I would like to see him play. For me it doesn't matter where but he needs to play.

56 mins? very strange time to make a substitution if not injury.

He's 20 now, looks capable of first team football so id hope he gets a start in the Cup games at least.

think we have to be very careful with this lad, he's getting rave reviews and sooner or later is going to start listening when being told to get 1st team football.
we've done it far too often in the past, letting them go only for them to turn out great little players that could have done a job for us not against us.

I've been drooling over him at the EDS games, IMO he is definitely going to make it as a top class footballer..... hopefully with us!

This^^
Has the skill but can also muscle his way through challenges

Its a Shake but i think he will only Play these few next-gen Games this Season. How Many are These? Maybe 10?! And thats it. He isn't Even in the 35 Player List for the cl. Dont think mancini is planing with him!

Was a Big mistake to leave barca. They wanted to loan Him, but he was so sure He can Play 1. Team Football. Now He will Play reserves for City and leave the Club Next Summer As a Reserve Player!

How many years did he sign for? I seem to remember at the time that it was a relatively short-term deal for a 19 year old (at the time he joined). Wasn't it only 2 or 3 years? I can see him struggling to break into the first team, then leaving on a free for first team football.

I don't agree how many players have we let go that could of done a job for us? I can't think of one player we have ever let go who ended up in a better team than ours

Looked like their coach was trying to defend a lead. Took off his creative players, brought on more defensive ones.

I think he is talking about in the past, we have let young players leave for peanuts who have gone on to play for England and make multi million pound moves, Paul Warhurst and Earl Barrat being 2 that spring to mind, others who made a good career include Neil Lennon and Ashley Ward to name but 2 and I am sure others can add to that.

The thing is some players have to move on for the sake of there careers, I can see Assulin falling into this bracket for his own sake

Assulin should be a cert to start in the Carling Cup and could find himself on the bench in the PL if we hit injury problems though I agree a loan move to the right club in January would benefit him.

Then why take him off?

It was frustrating watching him last night because whenever he got the ball, he oozed class, yet he hardly seemed to get the ball. Part of it was his fault for not finding space with the unnatural ease that Silva does but more of the fault is the Israeli setup that seemed to bypass him constantly, often sent straight to the big forward or the wingers. But when they hit England on the counter to go 1-0, Assulin's vision created the chance that was beautifully converted.

This lad has absolute talent and would probably be the first one we look to for creative backup if Silva or Nasri went down but as the Israeli boss says, he could use some first team football and a loan to the Championship could be beneficial (McClaren was there last night, could Forest be an option?). With that said, if we do loan him we may then lack a more senior creative outlet, as Denis Suarez is 17 and Joan Roman is 18, while Assulin is 20 and possibly more ready for big time football.

Maybe due to his injury prone recent history the club may be reluctant to loan him out just yet and may want to keep a closer eye on his fitness. It could be an option in January if he has a decent run of EDS games without injury perhaps.
