think we have to be very careful with this lad, he's getting rave reviews and sooner or later is going to start listening when being told to get 1st team football.
we've done it far too often in the past, letting them go only for them to turn out great little players that could have done a job for us not against us.

I don't agree how many players have we let go that could of done a job for us? I can't think of one player we have ever let go who ended up in a better team than ours

I think he is talking about in the past, we have let young players leave for peanuts who have gone on to play for England and make multi million pound moves, Paul Warhurst and Earl Barrat being 2 that spring to mind, others who made a good career include Neil Lennon and Ashley Ward to name but 2 and I am sure others can add to that.

The thing is some players have to move on for the sake of there careers, I can see Assulin falling into this bracket for his own sake

I don't think were the same man city we were in them days though do you? We have got one of the best youth systems in the world and have proven over the years that if your good enough you will get your chance it's going to be very hard to break through now at this club but if he is good enough he will get a chance to prove it and going out on loan gives people that chance aswel. Look at Weiss he went to rangers and Bolton and did nothing to say he could make it in our current squad but then look at Joe hart he proved he was good enough
