I am not sure it is only that. Six games is not a great sample, but certain patterns emerge and I don't like it at all. For start we are conceding a goal per game, that is not acceptable even for a team scoring as many goals as we do. The third manager who was playing their defence very high, 5 even 10 yards up from their box with two CB on Haaland and and wide players always in offside position when receiving the ball, they stopped us completely doing anything meaningful. Four shots in the first half, none on goal and we looked clueless most of the time. Luckily in the second half against CP Bernardo first, and then some other players showed their individual brilliance and they completely lost their shape. Against Newcastle there was a period of ping-pong football where we conceded two and scored two, but we were never in control for large parts of the game. Today Bernardo was under par, the same goes for Gundogan and even KdB apart from that pass. They were hassling us and our MF players never had time to settle on the ball. And Foden, I have no clue what is Pep doing with him, but nothing good is coming out of it. That LW position and how Pep is playing it, it is just destroying players, Raheem, Grealish and now Phil. Oleks is gone, but when we had him as a pivot on the line on the left side, helped us a lot, particularly in this kind of the games. And then to Haaland now, he's been magnificent so far, but in attacking phase of the game realistically we've been playing with a player down. We just cannot make an overload on any part of the pitch with him being stuck in the box. It is a conundrum Pep needs to solve, but I am really scared of Tottenham and what they can do to us with a manner we are letting goals in.

That's it. We can't win them all, nor do we have a given right to. But when you have a 100m player on the bench, a player that scored 2 goals the last game, or even an unknown talent like Palmer, and you don't bring them on with 3 substitutions left to use, that is just poor. To drop points without trying something, anything, is so damn frustrating. Particularly as that is what usually happens, those are predominantly the types of situations we end up dropping points in. And it must have a terrible effect on the players, all of them.

Thought the second half up until their goal we should've put them away. Erling does his usual and scores, Kev hits the bar, Haaland has two saved and Villa rode their luck and scored a cracker, sometimes you just have to say fair play to the opposition. They aren't or didn't do anything special just rode their luck and put away their only chance. It happens, that's football.

No time to dwell on it, I thought Alvarez would've given them fits but hopefully he starts against Sevilla and Haaland can have a rest with the Spurs game coming up.

Take the point and move on for me. We'll have a few more games like this during the season so no need to throw the baby out with the bath water.

People just like to go ott.
First half, fair enough we didn’t do enough but second half even if we were not at our best, we created enough and should have killed the game off.

I still don’t understand why this place goes bonkers when we drop points though. We are not going to win every game and we would still drop some points.
 
Poor performance on the pitch and, it must be said, in the dugout
The selection was an attempt to shoehorn Kev, Gundo, Bernie and Rodri into the team and it didn’t work.
Bernie might have had a blinder at the weekend but he is wasted stuck out on the right and our midfield is also much poorer for it. Especially in away games where his energy and hustle is even more important
Lack of subs was once again baffling, especially Alvarez and especially as we are entering the champions league period when rotation will be vital
I suggested in the summer that we might well be in Kyle’s last season, given his age. I hope his current performances are just lack of form and not his legs going but that was probably his worst game for City
Shooting from an acute angle when Haaland was unmarked 10 yards out was unforgivable and he knew it, his performance went downhill from there
Looked to be limping when he went off so maybe an injury has saved Pep from having to make a difficult decision
