Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

I wouldnt bet on that

He seems to play right into their hands
Yes he does, it's really frustrating isn't it? Such an odd thing, sometimes there is almost universal agreement, even on here, that a particular set up won't work against certain teams yet Pep does it. He is so incredible in other ways and yet at times just gets a mental block.

Exactly. Im not not this "Villa deserved a point" nonsense. They literally had one shot for the entire game. We could have scored another 2 or 3 after we took the lead.

We've nobody you blame but ourselves for failing to take all three points today, even though we were well below par we were still the far dominat side.
Dominant in possession but only really created clear chances last 20. First half Villa sacrificed footballl for stopping us playing on the half turn. Very pragmatic of Villa. Guundo struggled with pressure. A draw seemed reasonable. We should get back to draws away being a nit bad base.

Not normally one to get pissed off easily but that's done it surprisingly.

Lets be honest, they were shite. We've let them off the hook massively.

Poor finishing and some below par/lethargic performances.

Champions League will sort itself but Spurs needs to be better by 100%

No they didn’t and we fluffed it Arse, pool, rags, spurs will have a go and we will struggle
You are really boring, so why did you bring up the point of teams having a go ?

Anyway we had enough chances to still win the game, we created enough chances to win despite villa defending with almost everyone in their box. Imagine they actually leave space for us.

Villa didnt deserve a point they created f*ck all and set out to get a draw with Slippy's ten behind the ball tactics , we were rubbish in comparison to some of our football this season ,but we still did more than enough to win today , the cheer from the Villa fans at the end spoke volumes , are they expecting a trophy for avoiding defeat ? , small time club with small time mentality manager and supporters , they belong in the Championship.

Pep was right to say before the game that Villa's results so far made this a tougher game for City. Unlike Everton, there's a lot of good players in their team and they are desperate for points now. They came close to holding Arsenal to a 1-1 if I remember right and that game was probably good preparation for this one, unfortunately for us(would have been better if they played us first).

We were still the better team by far though and might have bagged another with some better finishing/luck, KDB, Haaland and Foden all had shots that were either off target or right at the keeper.

Negatives: Cancelo hasn't started the season well for me at all, being caught on the ball and misplacing passes in the wrong areas a lot. Foden(playing everything very safe), Mahrez, Dias and even KDB while not poor, are still some way off their best. Rodri got caught on the ball and nearly cost us a goal today too but I can't remember too many situations like that this season, so he gets a pass because he's one of the players that's started the season well for me. The team itself is starting games a bit too slow and we are conceding too many chances, our second half performances seem to be a lot better than our first half ones on the whole too.

Positives: All of those players mentioned are of a proven quality, so it's just a matter of time before they hit form. The team is still adjusting to the tactical tweaks and new additions. So there's plenty of room for improvement, which was to be expected and also quite exciting in a way.

Disappointing result, but it was not a terrible performance by any means.
