With all due respect @Tammievillan we applauded our ex-players long before we became mega successful.
Remember we haven’t always had this money or these players. We’ve had the hard times as well. Not that you are having hard times at this moment but I’m sure you see where I’m coming from?

Yeah we do.
I remember bitd when Tommy Caton (RIP) went to Arsenal and one of his reasons was to win some England caps.
By the time we played them at Highbury, he hadn't got anymore, so we all sang "Tommy, Tommy, where's your caps" he turned and smiled and gave us a wave after which a "One Tommy Caton" song was sung and he looked dead chuffed.

As for yesterday, it was a great win as slippy will make them hard to beat and the goal and finish by Bernie was world class.

SWP was our best player and almost individually kept up in 2004, he was sold because we were skint, if he hadn't gone we would've gone bust. He was replaced by a past it Trevor Sinclair. Don't talk nonsense about things you don't know.

Think Ederson should have done better with their goal

I thought so too ..at first.
But I watched a few angles of the replay...he would have seen the ball very late,the ball is directed around a defender.
Very difficult for our Keeper,it was basically two set pieces in one.
First the corner..
Then.a shot from behind a wall,as ederson sees it....a shot which,if Silva had tracked the run properly,could have been blocked off.
If..there is any blame....it lies at the feet of Bernardo for switching off,momentarily. Schoolboy error.
However,should not have been a corner in the 1st place .

Agree with all you say about their deluded fans. They did have a seriously good team in 82 - all their better players peaking at the same time. As for Gerrard - thought Villa deserved something from the game. On what basis - outclassed in all departments for 90 minutes ? No doubt he was quoting from his book of managerial cliches from the 70s.

Goalkeepers don’t cover the near post immediately from a corner, that’s why most teams put a player there. I’ve been harsh on Ederson when I think it’s merited (Zaha at home) but NO goalie saves that goal.
