Athletics Thread

Looking set up for an excellent finale to the heptathlon later today with the 800m.
KJT in the mix, definitely, with a small first place lead after 6 events and Anna Hall carrying an injury.

The elephant in the room at this meet is the absence of Thiam I suppose, but you can only beat who else is there and a gold would be a brilliant achievement for her.
 
Just caught up on last nights action, heart break for Hassan and Bol, bad night for the Dutch.

KJT about to go in the Heptathlon 800m to become World Champion.
 
Can Zharnel Hughes medal in the 100m now...we'll see, big ask.

Seville, Lyles and Coleman will be close.

Crazy how Bolts now 14 year record is still WAY ahead of these sprinters today. They can't get near that 100m one in their wildest dreams.

When he set those records, Michael Johnson said the person to break them probably hadn't been born yet. It sounded like an exaggeration but he was probably spot on.

Someone will get there soon, the advancement in shoe technology alone is worth a decent amount of time.

Bolts 200m world record is under threat at these championships though, Lyles and Knighton look like they can go close.

Maybe, I thought she overstrided at the end which threw her off.

No chance of a medal. Jackson, Fraser-Pryce and Richardson will share those in my opinion.

If Richardson can get a good start she’s got a great chance, she looked so quick. Talou as well in with a shout.
 
Adeleke into the final for the 400 meters be some season for her if she medals after only going college athletics in the US to a first major championship. Keeps going as she is she is the future of 400 meters running.
