The commentator I had (along with Jim fuckin' Beglin) after about 10 minutes asked the question if Atletico had deliberately targetted Ake as being the weakest link in City's defence.
They never got round to correcting themselves at any point after that .....

Atleti maybe could have planned on attacking Cancelo on the left as the least sturdy of our defenders, but targetting Ake seems unlikely. He just gave no quarter, shut it all down.

Gave it Kevin but Forden upped the tempo and changed the balance.
Amazed as Gundog chased down and caught Griezman in a footrace as everyone else just gawped.

Ake by a long way. Outstanding. Not a fan of his at centre back but really impressive at left back and won every header.

Foden is the only other who was worthy of consideration.

Went for Kev his energy the whole Game plus the goal! Ake though looks the last few games has become a pep player he has been mature confident and looking the business, won’t worry one bit now him Starting any game for us now. Oh we have ANOTHER left back option.

De Bruyne closely followed by Ake then Foden.
Ake is now on a par with the other defenders. Good news IMO.
Foden made such a difference when he came on.
