Good post, think football is becoming more sanitised which will have some good and bad points. One of the main reasons I gave up my season ticket was the 'match day experience' isn't quite what it used to be outside of a small number of games. Just different really.
Yep like yesterday some shite band singing bluemoon before the game.
It's like going to the supermarket or the cinema

I’d rather sit and read the dictionary than listen to the same fucking 4-5 repetitive songs and a big drum for 90 minutes, none more so than that wank tequila song.

There's a City song in that chorus somewhere.

Judging by some of the miserable fuckers on this post we should sing, "Oh what an atmosphere, we love it when there's a ground with no atmosphere, no noise or drums, we leave on 80 minutes, that's a good day done!"

The early leavers should sing it while doing a conga past the other fans moaning they can't see

They would all want to be at the front of the conga though. You would have to feel sorry for the poor sod at the back he might miss the chase celebrity special.

Could have put this on the early leavers thread as well. Palace 3 1 up 93rd min ground still full atmosphere still excellent.

No idea what the difference is

I suspect a large part of it is transport. Big 13 carriage train pulls in away you go. Etihad tram with 2 small coaches or cram for a crawling bus.
One train poss after our games against newcastle and fulham and we only live in Preston.

Yeah transport is one for people leaving early maybe Palace have more locals as well?

I believe all genuine supporters are fanatical about their clubs but there has to be reasons why Selhurst always seems noisier. Is it the stadium, the demographics of the supporters themselves or have the club and supporters organised the vocal support better.

Not having aground full of tourists taking pictures of themselves it when they buy a half and half scalf

Having an old school stadium with a proper home end is one of the main reasons why they have a good atmosphere. We need a proper home end with all of our singers in it.

You mentioned demographics. We have no where near as many tourists as other top clubs. This is an image of the south stand last season - it’s full of what I would call our core support/ young lads. Yes the tourists are increasing, but most of the ground is still the hardcore.

On our day we are miles louder than palace, who have one small section behind the goal.

I still don't understand that rule, it's even more ridiculous than the present offside rule. The field of play is over the white line. If the ball crosses it then it's out of play. How the fuck then can a player that's off the field of play behind the white line be playing somebody onside? How?? It makes zero sense.
Because you can just walk off the pitch

Its probably not organising the vocal support but there time in the lower leagues, where crowds plummeted, allowed there noisier fans to congregate in a certain area.

Still, I agree with the other poster, the Etihad is on a completely other level for the games that matter. Not sure of another ground in England which can hold a torch to it.

The atmosphere is pretty poor at home games imo goals are ruined by var uncertainty & now this annoying announcer stealing the crowds thunder .
