Atmosphere - 2023/24

I think the atmosphere is usually pretty good at Wembley partly due to the size of the roof making for good acoustics. Yesterday was as good as usual I thought, not on the level of last year’s final obviously but good nonetheless.
I don’t understand why so many think Wembley is shit. There’s far worse places and the transport options are more than sufficient - unless they make us kick off at a stupid time meaning there’s no trains to Manchester.

Can make a racket at Wembley. Depends on the game. It's a semi final and a lot of tourists and randoms attend. Was the same last year against Sheffield United. So many around me in the top tier had the odd fair weather City fan along with 3 mates who were neutrals. And a lot of others just seemed to be newcomers so didn't join in with the songs.

Will be different for the final when it's full of the hardcore again.

The other reason the atmosphere is better at finals is that fans often have to sit wherever they can so you get vocal fans on the top tier. All the noise started in the top corner for last year’s final. When you’ve got a roof to bounce off a few lads can get an anthem going. Like “You’re fucking shit” for example.
 
Bloke next to me (Hammers v Liverpool) would guess an Indian fella - whole match filming the game on his phone and face timing his friends back home and chatting away loudly. Filming himself celebrating a goal.
Obviously means well and excited to be there and his first game I suspect.

Glad I’m chucking it in next season - every match something like this is happening. iPhone/selfie generation are taking over the fanbase.
 
We were okay at forest today, I'd be interested to hear how people thought we sounded on the TV.

I thought their fans were very good until we scored at which point we had a good go ourselves. Really decent for the last 20 minutes, for obvious reasons.

6.5/10 for me

Thought forest fans sounded flat for a lot of the game. Considering that City were not quite at it today, i thought they would be really up for it. All you could hear were city fans for long periods of the game.

What disappointed me was the number of “fans” who were loudly and constantly slagging the players. In particular Kev, Jack, Doku and Kyle were getting it. I thought Jack had a bit of a stinker today but I didn’t feel the need to scream abuse at him like quite a few were.
 
Sky must have had the mics turned down . It sounded flat on TV but you could see the majority clapping and singing away but not coming through on the TV. Had to make do with Alan Smith droning away in his monotonous Midlands accent

I thought their fans were shite today compared to last season. Their fans in the brew tavern near the station thought they weren't at it, too nervous apparently.

...and we were far better than a 6.5/10.

Happy to be wrong in on this one, given the last few posts you're probably right that we were a little better than I first thought.

Certainly where I was stood there weren't many chants picking up until the last 20 mins

If that’s the case mate , and I’m not doubting you. That’s really disappointing. We’d be here talking all night about “ back in the day support “.But that’s really annoying that that’s happened.
