Atmosphere 2024/25

A lot of City fans have been talking about tourists for years. For some that might mean corporates who somehow manage to get seats for away games when they cannot possibly have accrued the loyalty points, for others it means fans who show up for home games with half and half scarves and are largely foreign.

There are different issues going on. Including away fans in the home end.

But one thing is for certain, there is a massive influx of Asian support into the Etihad on a CL night. You can say that as a racist, or as an anti-racist. I say it as an anti-racist but it is an objective fact. The only way to prove it would be with video but I it's too late now.
I don’t care where people come from if they support City. Manchester is a fast growing and very diverse city. I think most fans there last night were probably residents including some new ones to our area. It is great that they support City,

I stopped going West Ham last season, mainly coz my Dad died but also the amount of dickheads around me glued to their iphones, filming the game, really fucks me off.
I used to defend the tourists - and i still do really, as i've gone America and watched Baseball, basketball etc so why should the not be allowed to our games - but it really does affect the atmosphere and its just a weird unenjoyable mix, costly as well.
Don't miss it at all and rather go my local pub for Hammers match.
That’s a shame. I like the London Stadium and the pubs of Hackney Wick. The visit of Real Madrid is always a circus and it’s the same at their stadium. Most City matches are enjoyable as far as I am concerned. It is the older fans who moan the most in my experience. I know football is changing fast and not all for the better. But matchday is still the best day of the week for me.

I forgot to add my fellow older fans around me, absolute moan fest about the manager, tactics, groaning at every misplaced pass, all think they know what tactics would win the match - looking back i'm actually surprised how long i put up with feeling stressed going matches.

We'll all have a different final reason for dropping the CL.

From giving tickets to various groups at a lower price than they charged S/T holders to UEFA being corrupt etc.

Personally, my time was up when I attended the home game v CSKA, I'd not planned on the away game so obviously gutted for the fans who'd paid and missed out especially as they weren't recompensed by anyone.... however I was in 115 or around there for the home game, sat 3 rows behind were about a dozen CSKA fans in colours, they were banned as we were from attending the respective away game. Stewards, were informed who didn't want to get involved and actually guarded them.

That was it for me, there were plenty of stewards in the ground to shift 12 fans, they can always find them to shit City fans if ever there's any bother.

As it is although not your distance I now 'travel' to games, in all 3 other competitions at home and Wembley if we get there and that's me, no more aways (out of the habit), no more European aways done 6/7 in the Europa and early CL days.

£££ is king for the club and people will get out of going and not come back.

Once the current suits max us out and clear off the mess left behind won't be an easy thing to rebuild and by then loads more legacy fans will have gone, I'm nearly 62 and won't keep driving 90+ mins eachway forever to have to park 2 hours before KO to park free and have a chunky walk.it'll be like last night every night.

Not a bad early morning moan, if I say so myself.

Fair points. For full disclosure I never went last night either, so no criticism attached to anyone who never attended.

I did buy a ticket though and could not transfer it to a friend who wanted to take his father.

I don’t mind people moaning on here in a constructive way but in the stadium I hate it. It’s not supposed to be easy to support a football team. It’s a rollercoaster and that’s what makes it great. I hope you can go back to games one day.

to be honest, it helps my lifes hectic with work and two toddlers. Forget we're even playing sometimes.

No but I've been to about 1,000 games and I see all the PL away fans. Arsenal have a significant black support and Man Utd have a mixed support. I have never been to a game where I have seen so many Asian fans. You don't have to accept my comment. I am not replying again because I have repeated my point too many times already
Damn right you have.

115 goes the wrong way and our fans will be suing the club for losses in the pocket and damages for having to sit in sections like last night

Anyone who likes or loves City’s very welcome. I’ve said many times on here how the train back over the Pennines after Champs League games is often largely filled with Asian Blues. It includes a mixture of British / Asian Blues and City fans who are international students. Games against Real Madrid also attract non Blues who just want to see a good game, of course.

I mean, what are they even filming it for ?
they don't rewatch it, maybe post a clip on social media. whats the fuckin point.
I don't understand it. Take a picture of yourself at the ground by all means, and maybe get a picture of the players on the pitch, but filming the entire thing? Watch it with your fucking eyes!!!

Maybe so, but we have a formidable record for getting behind the lads when the chips are down. Whether it be in the third tier or on the back of the recent losing run, when the Etihad has been sold out for Prem, FA Cup and Champs League matches.

I think it will be mainly the corporates who leave us first if we continue to be uncompetitive. Then the player wages will put a massive strain on the Club’s finances.

Well they won't this season, because it looks like City won't win a trophy, bar the FA Cup, and possibly miss out on acCL place. Our wage structure is very success bonus related.

Plus we will be losing a lot of high earners at the end of the Summer, KDB being the main one, probably.

Great singalong in Mary D’s after last night’s game. In the front room. Blues belting our songs until closing time. Some of the lads struggle to get tickets on a regular basis so might be labelled as tourists on here.
