I work in rag central (Sale) and there's a rag at work who's an attendance snob. As far as he's concerned if you aren't a season ticket holder and go to every match then your opinion on football is invalid and you have no right to have one.

I confess I'm not a season ticket holder and I do have to watch some matches on TV but does this make my opinions less vaild after all why does being jammed in a seat miles from the pitch with limited view give you a better picture of the game than 10+ camera positions, "experts"( I use the word guardedly) giving their opinions and numerous slow motion replays.

Is there anyone else here thinks the same as the rag?

If he's a proper fan he should be boycotting the glazers and staying at home.

Why not try that out on him

true fan supports their team through thick and thin whether you attend every game or not makes no difference, typical rag talking shit

I actually gain more from watching it in the stadium so I can pick up on off the ball movements etc I then go home and watch it on telly (football first so 60mins) and get all the replays and closeups.

I dont criticise people who cant afford it, its the people who choose not to go that annoy me.
Its so fucking expensive and people have families to feed

hate to say it i tend to agree with the rag!

i used to read a lot of shite on here about milner and barry! However live at the match i was watching great work ethic, making plenty of runs for the team etc! I thought at the time that many on here talking shite were not regular match goers.
if your an armchair fan and only watch motd or read papers you have no chance of knowing about our team apart from the score and scorers!

Its a fair old way for me mate even though i can afford it, I cant be coming up on Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday nights and even late kick off Sundays are an issue

the way i see it if you watch the team you support on tv and follow them via the internet/papers and radio but never have been to or very very rarely go to a game then your a FAN

if you get the games be it season ticket or when you can afford it and add your voice to the crowd willing the team on your a SUPPORTER

think thats a fairly easy rule of thumb and shows why the scum have the largest fan base in the world :)

I think you can have an intelligent point of view on football from either point of view but your view will be a fair bit more comprehensive if you go to games rather than just watching them on TV. You do see a lot more of the off the ball movement and tactical formations live.

For the vast majority of us we will have our opinions on players from other teams fromed by perhaps one live match per year plus highlights and the occasional fully televised match, doesn't stop us forming our opinons and expressing them though.

The rag talks shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, so if a fan falls on hard times despite the fact he's been a 'season ticket holder' for the 30 previous years, then all of a sudden, overnight, his opinion becomes invalid ? The silly little kid.

I live in Sale and none of my rag mates go to the games. You can tell 'cos when we discuss football they just quote from what the rag media has brainwashed them with, or what Hansen says on MOTD.

I can't stand football on TV any more, especially City, because of the obvious bias towards whoever we are playing.
I like to go to the match and make my own mind up.

Always been a loyal blue though, whether I attend or not.

Tell him to let a proper supporter have his ticket..

Agree with the red to a degree... you obviously don't have to be a season ticket holder, but getting to x amount of games lets you see the game for what it is and form your own opinion, without a commentator imposing their views or a washed up pundit cherry picking which incident to view a hundred different times from a hundred different angles. I don't think you can pick up on the atmosphere or tempo of a game by watching it on TV and ultimately this dictates much of how the game is played out.

I never go. Haven't been since before we left Maine rd. I reckon all of you who go now are glory hunting plastics.

I think it depends on if you can afford to go. If you can't, then fair enough your opinion is just as valid as anyone elses (except the rag cause they all talk shite) but if you can afford to go and don't attend then your an armchair and I'd tend to not take as much notice. Sorry blue
