Audi remote key fobs - replacement

i call it a keygrabber but it may have other names....a key grabber is like a little remote scanning device.....if its activated before you use your car key and they are close enough, they can grab the frequency and immobiliser details from your key.

the same can be done with debit and credit cards too, its why i still use chip and pin instead of contactless

You need to get it sorted fairly quickly. If the car gets stolen, the insurance company will expect to see both keys. I would press Stone acre.

I can't understand why she did the deal with only one key, that doesn't work properly. Stupid
It was from a dealer as well... Stoneacre.
I read on net this morning that Timpsons have specialist centres that supply remote keys. Nearest one is Horwich I believe.

My youngest did that with her first car, a fiesta, my first questions were, who has the second key and do they know where you live. Believe the replacement was about £140 but that's a Ford.

I got a Laguna till my new car arrived they have a credit card shaped thing that acts as ignition too by inserting it into the dashboard. Only had one and that was dodgy on locking the doors(hit and miss if it worked or not).
Keyfax gave me tales of woe about buying keycards online and a slightly less price than Renault.

Some Asian dude from gumtree charged me £50. 2 mins with a laptop and the correct lead to patch into the onboard comp. reminds me to get a old of that software @TCIB

Does anybody know where you can get an additional remote? I used to know of a guy in Mossley, but lost his details.

My daughter has bought a 2012 A4 S line with only 1 key :-( This key works fine but will not activate the central locking and the car has to be locked manually. It will unlock via the remote however.

Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds wise after the event but were this me and given this was bought from Stoneacre I'd have insisted the deal was only going through if they supplied the car with two fully functioning VAG keys. There's too many dodgy cars out there - sis in law bought a VW Gold diesel via Network Q a few years back and despite all the checks they did it turned out o be a ringer. They gave her a refund but in my view a reputable dealer wanting to remain the same doesn't sell a car with only one dodgy key.

Soz - not a solution, not witty just an observation. If I were you I'd see if they'd take it back coz I bet at [present nobody would buy it off her.

Last time i had a remote key made it was at Timpsons shoe repairs as daft as that sounds

At the moment Timpsons would be his best bet on the high street. They recently invested heavily in the auto keys side of the business.

An Audi dealer will do a key but charge at least an hours labour on top of the key price.
Google 'mobile auto-locksmith' and your postcode then pick a local business that will come to your house and not a national chain backed one.
Fucking about getting blanks and fobs off e-bay is just that, a load of fuckiing about. Once the key arrives it still has to be cut and coded and nobody will do that and guarantee it will work if you provide the blanks.

Not 100% but i think it's now against the law for a dealer to sell a car with just one key?
