Four players dropped for not doing their homework :) Reports that Shane Watson has just fucked off back home...

Shame they couldn't have waited for the Ashes though, they might have sorted themselves out by then.

Seems a bit naff, no alcohol or whores or pedalos involved.

As Bumble said "10-0, they're not very good, no batting, no bowling, you cant win test matches without runs or wickets. Nathan Lyon?? Doherty? Went for 500 odd twice in India, we beat them just quite easy. They're no good i tell ya"

I will echo that and say its the worst Aussie team in my lifetime.

They will up their game over here thats for sure
I still think we will win
But 4/9 shots to win the series we are certainly not.

They do seem to be a team in transition, and this incident hardly bodes well either, but I wouldn't write them off just yet,as they invariably raise their game for the Ashes, and England always have the ability to throw in the odd horrorshow of a performance like the first innings against the Kiwis last week.
If Swann and Anderson stay fit,and the right KP shows up,then England should have the edge, but I doubt it will be a walkover.

I'm 38 mate, and for me its easily the worst Aussie team i have seen, so going back to 81. Their openers will struggle against the moving ball over here, badly, Cowen's foot movement is poor and Warner is a 20-20 player. Hughes cant seem to be able to play the short ball or spin, Watson is hit and miss (and might not tour now). So basically their batting is Clarke - who hasnt got a great record in England. Their spin bowling is a joke, and their seamers not as good as ours. Prior is better than Wade. The weather might save them is a test or 2 but England should win by 2 tests or more...

Where's Glenn McGrath for a prediction???

I'm 42 so ive watched these fuckers dismantle us time and time again
I do agree though this is the poorest team they will send over for a long time
Its amazing really how much they have fallen as they tonked us 5-0 only 6 years ago
4/9 is just to short for me to be putting my faith into england, although as i said i expect us to win.

These things always go in cycles and to be fair from Kim Hughes blubbing like a girl and opening the door for Alan Border to take Austrailia to the top of the tree in 1984, they've had a pretty good run.

My earliest memories of test cricket are when the West Indians were on a different planet to everyone else. Then the Aussies were head and shoulders above everyone else for most of my adult life. So this is the first era really that I remember, where no one team is clearly dominant and that makes for more interesting series' in my opinion.

That said, I think like most people, England will comfortably prove to be too strong over a full series against the current Aussies.

Definitely tough times for the Aussies at the moment. They've got a promising pool of young seam bowlers to pick from, Pattinson, Starc, Cummins, Mcdermott, Bird, Richardson and Coulter-Nile all look handy, but in other areas they're struggling. No spinners of note, sloppy in the field and a big issue in batting with Clarke carrying them at the moment. Players like Shaun Marsh, David Warner and Callum Ferguson clearly have a great deal of talent, but seem to struggle with converting that to big scores in the long form of the game, while someone like Cowan is disciplined but limited. Not sure if they have many young batsmen coming through either, Burns and Dolan perhaps? The constant chopping and changing of the side can't help either. Still, not our problem is it :)

I pretty much agree with this. It always struck me that when other teams are way better than everyone else they seem to revel in their superiority and take real pleasure in their dominance (see WI in 70s/early 80s, Aus 89 to mid 2000s). However, when we are easily the best (not often I'll grant you, England Rugby circa 2002/03, cricket 2010/11) I don't enjoy the victories half as much as when we scrape wins against other great sides (Ashes 2005 being the highlight). I suppose it comes down to the essence of sport and enjoying a high quaility, exciting close contest rather than a tedious massacre.

That said, if you are going to have a tedious massacre having one against the Aussies at cricket is the one I would pick (sick swans excluded).

6 legends of the all conquering team retired after that series and the rest have now gone. Australia did a classic England and forgot to blood youth while the best where still playing
