Away tickets

It bites the club on the arse when fans just think “ah fuck this, not bothering anymore, they don’t give a shit about years of support” and fans just fall away.

And it’s not just casual fans, there are fans who went home and away for decades who don’t go anymore.

Then we have the situation like the Wembley semifinal; where are all these foreign nobodies when it comes to those ticket sales?.. nowhere to be seen! Yet the club are losing core supporters year after year. Whether it’s through stuff like this with away tickets or the 200% rise in SeasonCards in eight years, the continual lack of “Manchester” about the club, pushing the Moon as our core identity for a few years was a load of shite, moving fans out of their seats to create corporate areas that are never ever full, “Welcome to our visitors from Indonesia” on the big screen, taking the Prem trophy on a World tour... I think they’ve done it wrong. They need to look more locally. Think of the club as MANCHESTER City and not like some Hollywood film that needs promoting worldwide.

ironically when the new draconian measures for the away support is introduced it will drive away even more of the core support, judging by the sales for Wembley where are theses thousands of fans desperate to see us away from the Etihad

I watch cheeses blog and see yanks and swedes managed to get tickets for Fulham, one yank taking wife to first game so annoying when I know plenty of regulars are struggling and being forced to pay for neutral tickets at double price. Regularly the hospitality holders at city are touting tickets for our away games it all needs sorting out, should only be done on loyalty points in my opinion, if you are in a supporters club you should have loyalty points why the separate allocation, so many jokers now saying I started following city about 10 years ago. I have enough points to get all away tickets but I feel for others who are missing out, when cheesy on Fulham blog asked the yank if he was a member of the Hollywood branch in USA I didn’t know to laugh or cry. I loved the good old away days, I’d have loved to have seen our newbies down cold blow lane or on the leazes in the day, they don’t know what it’s like to have been a loyal blue and sadly for the never will do. Away tickets to only loyalty points holders is the fairest way.
To be fair most of the "tourist" City fans yesterday were in the neutral section which was about 75 per cent City with a smattering of Fulham fans.

Exactly, the North Stand extension new corporates will need supplying.

Imagine £5k away at Wigan in a cup game on Monday, collect your tickets with ID or similar, get in by 1am.

Still seem to be Palace tickets available, down to 4,000 points now (0 points from 3.00)

It's almost as if the points system doesn't need changing at all.

Obviously that can't be right, because if it was, the martyrs that represent us on City Matters committee would be just bigging themselves up, wasting their time, and fucking up a perfectly good system for no reason whatsoever.

To be fair it's the fourth game in London in fifteen days, fine if you live there like me, not so great if you're shelling out to Mr Branson.

Exactly, I guarantee this thread will be right at the top again come the Utd match, someone with borderline points who cannot get to Palace but misses out on Utd due to not getting to Palace

I think you mean the person on borderline points who misses out because people on 4,000 points are in a supporters club or because the club have siphoned off over a 1,000 for whoever is wealthy

so much demand, yet so few takers, who would have thought it, but then again its not one of the fashionable games, despite us going for the title.

Heaven help us if we ever return to the stuart pearce days of 900 at Villa, reduced allocations everywhere, and having to go on an identity parade to get our tickets.

I think we are getting nearer the truth with all this.

That isn't a fault of the actual points system though, and how are the proposed changes going to affect your scenario?

I didn't say it was the fault of the system. It is being abused and we all know it the one of the biggest perpetrators of the abuse, in my opinion is the club and supporters clubs. If we actually have a system fit for use then this thread wouldn't be so big. I haven't looked at the proposed changes and how it will affect me yet as I suspect not all changes will be implemented and others may come into play.

I was in New York for the Liverpool game pre season and in the blue bar before the game me and my Mrs met a lovely couple from New York who we’re obsessed with City, they took us with them to the stadium to show us the way and we’ve stayed in touch
I sit in Joes west and get ticket for away games if I want one and have used this to get him tickets to Liverpool away and Fulham yesterday, he’s absolutely loved both games and text last night saying how he couldn’t believe the chanting non stop and he’s had time of his life. I’ve only ever taken the £30 for the tickets off him and judging by the noise I could hear from our fans yesterday I don’t think him being there had the slightest impact on the support
People will moan about absolutely fuckin anything
That's a nice story mate and good that you can look after your new friend but somebody will have missed out on tickets for Liverpool because of it who won't be so happy about it.

I’m yet to the see the thread where a Supporters Club is complaining about having to take £65 Wembley semi final tickets or receive 5 times the amount of tickets for Palace they get for other London games.

There are swings and roundabouts I’m afraid

I won't disagree but where are the corporates for the Palace game or the Swansea game etc but you just know that the derby will sell out at 19,000+ if not more because so few will go on actual sale. Brighton away if we can win the title will be interesting as well. Anyone remember what Southampton last year sold out at for the last game of the season?

Sold out at 12250, but we were given just over 3,300 tickets.

Which quite clearly shows that there isn't a problem with the loyalty scheme and it also shows where all the spare tickets that pop up on ticket sites are coming from.
Corporate and City
Very interesting that Prestwich_Blue has not picked up on this and if he has will he highlight it to the club.
Quite clear a lot on here and corporate want to watch the big matches but aren't interested in the lesser games.

Brighton allocate a similar amount I think so it will be interesting to see what it sells out at if we need points for the title.

Nightmare scenario - Brighton away is a title decider and it sells out at 22000 points because of 'unusually' high demand from the corporate sector and supporters clubs.
