Ba

It's being reported the 7.5m buy out clause is definitely active in January, however,it appears the main reason he is so keen for a move is the fact he will receive a third of that amount - wow!

Whoever signs him will get a very good striker if played in the right system and style of play.

There is no doubting his ability, his quality is such that he could do a very effective job for any club.
Although he does appear a true footballing mercernary,on the flip he also works tirelessly on the field and seems an excellent character in the dressing room.

Any team could do alot worse.

The impression that we need a striker is the problem. Sure we should sell some of the ones we have. But getting others shouldn't be on the table. Personally, I'd sell Tevez and Balo. Keep Dzeko and Aguero.

Buy a few attacking mids and call it a day.

Dax, I find the concept of 4 big name strikers to be pointless, borderline greedy, and possibly more trouble than it's worth (how many great partnerships have we struck among our four strikers after all the rotation? Tevez/Aguero is the best and not as great as some people say), but there is no way two strikers is enough for a club challenging on 3 or 4 fronts IMO.

If we followed your scenario I think we'd need to add one clinical finisher, be it a beast like Falcao or a different style striker with good finishing ability like the increasingly potent Jovetic (my choice because he an improving young talent who ticks every box of a City signing and could also play deeper if necessary). With Guidetti as a fourth option because you do need around four strikers I think, just not four big name strikers on big money with big demands. For me, a well balanced strike force at City without the excess and with probably about £200k-£300k/week off the wage bill would be Aguero, Jovetic/Falcao, Guidetti, and our version of United's Hernandez whoever that may be (low maintenance goal poacher with no ego and good work ethic - I'm sure they are out there but its a job for the scouts). Aguero/Jovetic (or Falcao) would be our primary strike force and develop a partnership like Rooney/Van Persie but with other options to call on.

However I can't see any scenario where Tevez leaves before his contract runs out, no one is going to take on those wages so he will be part of our strike force for another 1 1/2 years and hopefully get back to his best and stop missing so many chances.

As for Ba he is really good but you have to be careful with these players. There were some on here were clamouring for Clint Dempsey who looked immense at Fulham and he is merely average now at Spurs and looks half the player.

To be fair to Dempsey,he took a few games to workout his new surroundings but his quality then began to show and he was displaying the form that built his reputation at Fulham,an injury has put him out again unfortunately for the Spuds.

I still believe him,Dembele and Vertonghen would have improved us far better than we actually did and, significantly,at a cheaper price.

I remember Demba Ba from times he played at Hoffenheim. Ibisevic scored 19 goals in that half of season before he got heavily injured in friendly January game but I was always saying Ba is better player than him.

Ba is pretty much on a goal in 2 games in his career (Hoffenheim, West Ham, Newcastle, Senegal)

For sale for £7.5m (release clause stated in today's press for his Newcastle contract not £7m stated above). Just what we need a striker who can strike. Sell Balotelli to AC for £20m and I think we have a bargain.

It really is a no brainier.

Agree on the strikers, Dzeko and Balo will certainly leave by the end of the summer. Tevez just doesn't seem the same player he was in 09/10 and 10/11 seasons. Aguero and Guidetti are long term parts of our squad. Jovetic/Falcao in as Aguero's main partner and low demand poacher. That's four strikers like we have but a lot less ego.

Is he? How many he scored this year?
11 goals

Thanks... Well ain't shabby is it! And just think of the service he'd get from Spanish Dave, and Nasri & Co, he could be prolific!

I agree Ba's decent enough and at a great price, but lots of his goals come from crosses/balls in from the flanks. Exactly how we dont play. He'd struggle like Dzeko for me if he came here and we continue to play how we do.....

Not for us but it will be interesting to see where he will land up. I will get laughed at but I think he might go to Chelsea.

Sell Balotelli, bring in Ba.
Much more goals, less arguments, less drama and a more unified team.
We'd be around 12mil and £70,000 a week better off as well.
