Remy will likely cost 8-10m but has smaller wage requirements and Newcastle.

I think you're being a wee bit to optimistic about this mate. If anything, I think this signing for them only strengthens the likelihood they're intending to go in big for Falcao in the summer. They've signed a cheap stopgap to help out Flopnando until the end of the season - one who has a history of injuries and whose knee could go at any second, and will probably make the big push for the Colombian come summer to be the star forward they really don't have. It is a bit optimistic for Falcao to join us at this stage of the season.
Can people stop saying that please? Schevchenko was excellent for us compared to Torres. He always gave his best and scored some very important goals (especially in the cups) during his time here. I don't think Ba decreases our chances of signing Falcao. We still need to replace Drogba or we will never be a "world class" team again. Torres was intended to be that replacement and it clearly didn't pan out. Ba obviously isn't the final solution to this problem given his knee condition. He's a stop gap and much needed reinforcements for the here and now.
