Bad Traffic Incident in Wyth...

Just seen the results of a bad 3 vehicle smash, involving a bus and two cars, one of which is scooped onto the bonnet of the one behind it!

I think the cars must've been trying to jump the lights, in my opinion.

Don't do it, guys!

Nowhere is worth the rush.
My complaint about speed cameras is they are there purely to make money. If they were for road safety they would put them on traffic light controlled junctions.
I know you are guessing that was the issue but I have been about to set off many times, my lights showing green, when some tosser shoots through.
Glebelands Road junction with Washway Road, Sale is dangerous.

Was driving that way yesterday and saw some complete numpty at the lights near civic centre, approaching from the simonways end. Straight on was red but right turn filter was on green. Without slowing down he gets into the right hand lane, dodges around traffic and shoots straight on across the lights.

It's cases such as this why operation snap was set up. I have it all on dash cam, I think, will check.

One day last week, I was approaching the lights on Simonsway with the Rolandsway junction on the right. The lights had turned amber, which incidentally means stop. I stopped. By the time I got to the junction the lights had already gone to red. Two cars to the right of me, decided to go through the red lights to turn right just as cars from Rowlandsway were making there way out of the junction. Although I have a dashcam, it would have picked up the change of lights sequence, it might have not have picked up the cars turning right.

All fixed cameras are bright yellow and displayed on mapping software, so if they're just to make money, it's a bad business plan. The problem is you need a number of collisions, usually fatal, before you can put something in that might help, plus the number of ringer vehicles where the driver doesn't care as they won't receive the ticket.

Cameras should supplement traffic police, but they've been used to replace most of it which was an obvious outcome.

That junction does have a red light camera, albeit only on the arm coming out of Manchester, probably due to the 40mph limit in advance of it. It needs a permanent right turn phase on all the lights, particularly Washway Rd.
