Bale to consider future

Non starter for me this Summer. Bale's contracted for 3 more years.

Spurs will value him higher than Modric, and they turned down over £30M for him last Summer.

Straight cash, Levy will want £40M+, and even then he could still refuse to do business.

Our best hope, unless we made a ridiculously high bid, (which I don't see happening) would be if they desperately wanted to sign Adebayor and maybe had their eye on one or two of our squad players as further make-weights.

About sums it up for me. Levy will have one hand out for 40m and the other offering 3m for Ade. He wants the CL spot but he's relying on paying people like Bale peanuts to get it.

Bale would be the absolute perfect player for us, we need a genuine winger not another Silva/Nasri type playmaker. We try way too hard to walk the ball into the net sometimes and we need a completely different option. Them red twats do nothing other than pump crosses into the box and it works more often than not against teams that pack their defence. Bale is the best player in that position, not as good as Silva or Nasri but just as effective in a different way.

I agree with the idea of getting Bale, by offering a chunk of cash (£25M) plus Adebayor and maybe another squad player. He is a very good player, and he is used to the Premier League so would be flying first season.

I can't see City spending 40 milions for a winger when we have Silva and Nasri as starters. I think we'll spend big for a CM like Martinez or M'Vila and eventually Thiago Silva if he' s available.

I do think that sometimes he's too easily negated by well positioned fullbacks.

He's pretty much always easily negated by a well positioned fullback. I couldn't see Mancini being interested in someone so one dimensional unless he thinks he can get a lot more out of him (perhaps playing in a team that employs them new fangled tactic-ee fings)

Bale is quick but as others have mentioned his pace is only useful if he's running from deep.

With teams parking the bus I just don't think he is a clever enough player for us.

I don't think he will let bale go either. He fought like fuck to keep Modric probably because he knew there would be hell to pay from the fans and manager. Same applies to Bale they don't want to be seen as a selling club and unless the deal is heavily in Spurs favor to the point that can be justified to the manager and fans its not happening.

You don't get the best out of someone like Bale unless we become a more counter attacking team.

Although against the better sides, we do like to stay compact so someone like him could actually be quite useful against the good teams. Imagine him and Aguero springing out onto the counter. Could be quite deadly with their pace.

But I worry he lacks the cutting edge and mentality against to play against mid to lower table sides that will almost always park the bus.

I like him, though. Decent player, but not for 40m.

the fact of the matter is we need pace in the squad end of. we dont have it and thats why we struggled against teams like stoke, swansea, everton etc in march. those are just examples. there was no urgency and teams knew how to play us. regardless of winning the league we need it. a new dimension and run teams ragged

How much will pace help when you barely have 18 yards to run

Don't think we necessarily need another Nasri/Silva. Bale would give us some added directness and help on counter attacks.

People overrated him and so now too many underrate him. I'd love it if we signed him but I reckon we'll be scared off by the price.

Bale is negated by a full back as he is usually blocked in by a covering defender. Teams will not be able to do that against us. The turn of pace from Aguero won us the title so it can be seen how to use it against a team that can park the bus. His directness will be helpful as it adds another dimension as Nasri and Silva try to thread passes.

As for Levy Bale has come out and said he is looking for a new club if spurs miss out on CL. Modric's didn't try to force the issue last summer.

When teams were parking the bus with 11 men in their own penalty area, rather than trying to pass through them, sometimes it takes someone to carry the ball & run at them to create a chink of space or force an error. Bale would be ideal for this

So spuds want 40m for Bale and sign Ade for no more then 8m. Right, I would stay away from that deluded Levy

We need pure pace in our team, last season we played the same way every game with the only real change in tactic was yaya moving father forward.

I am not knocking playing the same way as we were rather good at it, Prem title proves the point.

With the prem and CL we are going to have to play against different types of teams and who is to say that when teams like Stoke do park the bus Bale’s strength and speed may provide that little something else.
But when it will help is away from home against the better teams ie Bayern away last year, when they started to push us back a pure pace outlet would have been just what we needed.

Plus whenever I watch Bale he seems quite a clever player, he picks his passes well even at speed and he can score.

We should go for him in a big way
