The way Mancini seems to have set up is to have an attack like this:
Nasri..........Tevez.........Silva
...............Aguero..............
(the names are merely a formality here by the way)
From what I've seen it seems Bobby has the 3 players behind the striker roaming and swapping places with each other all the time. If Silva is drawn to the right, then Nasri, or Tevez will go left, and then we'll try and penetrate through the middle.
Also The striker and whoever is behind the striker will change and swap (one-two passes) until there is a shot on goal.
With the Purchase of Hazard, we can still maintain this formula, but also have fantastic pace and crossing ability. From what I've seen Bale isn't as strong at creating unless he's on the wing. I'd rather have the multi-ability of Hazard.
As for getting both, I just can't see it. It would mean that so many regulars for us now would not be playing as often. No point upsetting the current harmony of the team which has put us top of the league.
Remember blues, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Our squad is great as it is.
I'm still not convinced that "Width" is the answer to our problems anyway. It's just a nice "plan B" option. Hazard can do 'Plan A' and 'Plan B', Sorted.
My opinion of course.
I would take Bale, but not at the expense of Hazard.

We still safe on that if we sold Johnson for Hazard?

I believe we have 9 homegrown players right now over 21.

Think we need 8.

Take out Tevez and add Barry, or we would have three defenders. Unless that is what you were going for. Then just no.
Would be stupid to sell to our biggest rivals. We should have a policy that big players can only move to leave abroad.

lol
The article said "£40m players-plus-cash deal" so I guess that £40m includes the value of the players.Andouble said:I'm no historian but I'd say 40 mil plus two players is something that's probably never happened and seems like it'd be a huge pain in the arse to sort out.

That would be one oalmighty deal. Never going to happen though.
That's difficult. A ton of money, a starter, a back up for both wings and another DM.
Wages might make that tough. I don't know what De Jong is on, I assume Johnson isn't on too much.
But of all the players, De Jong is probably the one we don't need. We have Parker and Sandro...
Johnson would be useful... Ade is probably the type of striker that best fits our requirements for a lone striker, he has his faults, but are there better strikers that we could get?
I think I'd rather trade him for Higuain, Sahin, Kaka, a CB (they were looking to sell Pepe in January, he's a very very technically skilled defender, with amazing passing, but his nasty streak and his overacting wreck him for me, if he behaved, then he's a £30 mil CB)... I don't know how much Real Madrid value all those players at, but:
World Class Striker - We need one, Higuain is one.
Kaka - Can play in VDV's position or on the wings. (Bale going would leave us one wing short.)
Pepe - The ball playing CB we need... He would have to behave though.
Sahin - Amazing young player.
Real Madrid are looking to sell 3 of those 4 and the other is Higuain and he wants to go. (Real Madrid just don't want him to.)
They might have changed their mind about Pepe, they did transfer list him in January although I don't think Mourinho wanted him to go. I can't remember him doing anything nasty since stepping on Messi's fingers. (He did argue with a referee, but that's not the same.)
Yes, Kaka isn't the player he was at AC Milan, but he has been very very very good this season. He's 30. That Harry Redknapp magic should work on Kaka?
The other option for CB is Carvahlo, but he has gone downhill rapidly this season. He's 33 anyway, so isn't a long term option. Pepe is 29.
Higuain is only 24. Sahin is 23.
-----------
Of course, we could just keep Bale, spend our entire transfer kitty on those Real Madrid players, hope we don't end up tripling our wage bill and try to win the league? Just a dream? :P
