My thoughts tbh, amazed at some of the vitriol directed at Messi in here. Some of it sounds like a thread of 14 year old Ronaldo fanboys on Twitter. He's still a brilliant player and his average match rating for PSG was the highest in Europe so its not like he just had the world cup and was utterly shit otherwise.

At the end of the day its whoever is selected by an utterly bizarre panel ranging from the Captain of Uganda to Sri Lankan cricket journalists so I don't know why people get so worked up about it.

Neither Lionel or Erling would swap their World Cup or Treble for the Balon D'or. Rodri was better than both of them anyway!

Rodri was better than both of them.

Håland didn’t even particularly play well in either the FA Cup or CL finals.
 
Do we think all the City nominees will go to the ceremony? I can’t remember if people really attend besides the winner? Would be a statement to see all of them there together.
 
It is tonight is it not? When they just give it to Messi, because he happens to be Messi and he won the trophy he was missing, and has retired, so why not.
