Didn't see this anyone on the board.

Apparently Chad Ochocinco (big American Football football player for the New England Patriots) is a huge fan of Super Mario. The Legend spreads.....

One is a headline-grabbing, controversial sports star . . . the other is Mario Balotelli.

Now the mercurial City front man’s exploits have won him a new admirer – in the shape of American Football hero Chad Ochocinco.

The flamboyant New England Patriots wide receiver, a household name in the US, took to twitter to reveal his admiration for Super Mario.

Despite living thousands of miles away, Ochocinco’s soft spot for the Blues ace – who recently had to flee his Cheshire mansion when a stray firework lit set fire to the bathroom – should come as no surprise.

Never far from the limelight, he is regarded as a rare talent on the pitch, while his colourful antics off it often take place under the glare of the cameras.

Ochocinco is followed by more than 2.9m people on the social networking site which he used to ask for a signed Balotelli shirt.

The M.E.N. spotted his request and forwarded it to City bosses who asked him to get in touch. And moments later he tweeted his thanks.

It is understood Balotelli will now send a video of him signing the shirt, along with a message for his new fan. Like Balotelli, Ochocinco is no stranger to raising eyebrows with his behaviour.

Formerly known as Chad Johnson, he changed his name to Ochocinco – which is based on the Spanish for eight five, his shirt number, in 2008.

And when he joined the Patriots from Cincinnati this year he bizarrely asked fans in Boston to put him up.

Like Mario, Ochocinco looks to be finding form after a slow start with his new club. And if the Blues hero wants to follow his new fan’s lead, City fans should be in for a treat.

Ochocinco reached the final four of Dancing With the Stars (the US version of Strictly Come Dancing) and starred in his own reality TV show ‘The Ultimate Catch’ in which he met a number of female contestants in a bid to find love.

85 is a self promoting idiot. Mario is a far bigger asset to City than he is to the Patriots.

Googled Ochocinco and this came up:

Pfft, you have to be a twat to have a blonde mohican ;)

Chad just does it for attention like everything else he does. Mario is getting world wide attention so now Chad is a "fan" hes a self serving prick and dont want him near our club or players.

I've always been a huge Ochocinco fan, just a pity he spent the most of his career in Cincinnati.

His celebrations make Mario look like an amateur lol

Ocho spent the offseason visiting Europe and spent a lot of time hanging out with Cristiano Ronaldo. So let's just ignore him eh?

Though...he did randomly give away $17000 to one of his Twitter followers...

If he ever catches a pass this season, maybe Ballo could send him a well done card.

I'm a Cincinnati transplant and will try not to be offended by this! LOL. Chad was a great player when he was Chad. He became an entertainer and an average football player when he turned into Ochocinco. Glad he's out of Cincy.

Hoping Balo doesn't follow that career arc.

Ochocinco had a brief trial with Sporting Kansas City (I live here) and was made an honorary member of the development squad (publicity stunt by the club no doubt). He apparently liked footie more than american football but was swayed by his mother/aunt/grandmother to focus on american football because that is where the opportunities are in the US.

They showed footage of him training and you could tell he'd be a beast if he had played consistently his whole life.

Lol nothing against Cincy but when he was Chad Johnson he was a pretty good player on a sub average team, no offence lol
