Balotelli penalties

The commentators on Fox Sports were saying that "stuttering" before taking the penalty kick was against the rules or something, and that Balotelli should have been carded..
Is there really a rule against this? or were they just being jealous t*ats?
Cos I've always seen C.Ronaldo take his penalties the same way...

Fantastic technique, he makes the keeper commit and simply passes it into the other side.. keepers have to shift their body weight to the side they are gonna dive or else they won't get anywhere near the ball.
Best pen taker I've ever seen and I can't ever see him missing one.

was gonna post this question.

sure he's gone for the same corner everytime.

when he takes one i expect him to do something stupid, rather than just put it in the net.

his run up makes me nervous.

if he missed it last night it would have been deemed a shocking penalty, but cause the keeper went the other way it makes it a world beater.

personally i'd rather see him have a few yards, run up and put it in the net.

If he's put them all to the left its cos the keepers have all dived to the right.. just coincidence.
we shall see

I'm sure he put one to the keeper's right against Villa last year. So, I think he does (as bluemoonrisen has said) make the keeper commit and then put it the other way - if the keeper stands still, and waits, he's got little chance if the ball's tucked in by the post.

Yes, but only if you come to a stop. The way mario does them, he still continues his motion and does not come to a full stop, but just a stutter in speed, which is perfectly legal.

Keeper dives left.. so he puts it to his right.

And if the keeper tries to be clever and not commit..

This guys technique is that good you have to look at what he has just done several times to truly appreciate.

There is a fantastic picture in the M.E.N today which shows Mario the split second before he makes contact with the ball (maybe somone more able than me could upload it ).
His eyes are not on the ball.He is watching the keeper as he strikes it.
Wow..

He also did this last year in a game (europa league ?) when he used the same technique but this time he looked in one corner of the goal and calmly stroked the ball into the opposite corner of the net.

Sublime

I have never seen anyone look so composed and utterly sure of their ability to put a penalty away. Even all of the best penalty takers look slightly anxious prior to the kick. Mario is absolutely ice cool and I think he has complete faith in himself to score them every time. I get the impression that he would be absolutely disgusted with himself if he ever missed one. Long may this continue. When the penalty was awarded last night I was hoping he was going to take it.

Soon as the ref blew for the pen I celebrated the goal..

I think so, I told Jacqui exactly where he would put the ball as soon as the whistle went for the foul an I said he'd put the keeper the wrong way. She thought I was very clever.

Surely a keeper will do their homework soon though.

look up a couple of posts.

Best penalty taker at the club, full-stop. His temper is fiery but at the point he strikes the ball, he's ice cold. Something like that.
