Sorry if this has already been asked but could someone give me an update as to when we might see him playing in the first team, I've heard it could be in time for the derby match and another source said it coud be nearer christmas

Depends who you listen to mate.

Some papers saying as soon as Arsenal and others saying another 8 weeks. Don't think anythings been said officially so your guess is as good as anyone's.

either way its not been done right

Knees are tricky because everything looks fine, and then tries to train and everything goes to shit. I only hope this is just some post surgery weakness in the area, because if not, it sounds like they might not of solved it with surgery. That's a very scary thought.

you know as little as the rest of us

One thing about a good squad, you can allow players to recover properly. Tis a long hard season ahead and were not in too bad a situation are we?

It's not THAT scary, but it could mean he might need another op. And another 8 weeks out after the op. Operations to fix meniscus tears are (sadly) not always successful and sometimes require repeat surgery. Fingers crossed this is not the case.

"How successful are meniscus repairs?
The success of a meniscus repair is most dependent on two factors. First, if the meniscus repair is attempted on a tear in the central portion of cartilage (where the blood supply is poor), it is likely to fail. Second, patients must be compliant with the post-operative rehabilitation after a meniscus repair.

If the meniscus repair fails (i.e. the repaired cartilage falls apart), which happens between 20 to 40% of the time, a second surgery may be necessary to remove the re-torn meniscus. "

Knees are the easiest Joint to re-injure again or take a set back of a few days, a week or a month. You can start jogging and plyometrics one week and everything seems fine. Then when three-quarter pace running starts there could just be a little twinge and he's three weeks behind where he's just been.

Give him time. 4 months on a knee is normal. Even if he wasn't back until March, sobeit, it's March, and good because we'd want him back fit 100% not taking a chance in December when he's 80% fit!

Physio Update Report:

Saw him last night in San Carlo's in Birmingham and he was easily able to walk up and down the stairs unaided. He also met two very attractive blonde ladies and left at approximately 11.00pm for what I assume was going to be a vigorous workout.

Wherever he is yet ready for 90 minutes of football or not I am unsure.

Edit:- I am not a real physio

You say it as if it doesn't really matter. The problem is we have four other strikers:

One excellent striker who is knackered and says he wants to quit football
Another who can be excellent but has been out of sorts for ages and who may well leave at Christmas
Another who can't spell excellent let alone be it
And the last one who could be excellent if playing in a wheelchair was allowed

Bottom line is we NEED Balotelli fit. If anything happens to Tevez we will struggle to keep winnin games and we could be miles adrift in a matter of weeks.

...just life - unlucky

1/ We need him fit asap - anyone think Mancini does not want that and will be checking very closely

2/ Lessons from others (e.g. Torres) - big mistake to rush back too early

3/ Therefore need to adapt until he is 100% fit

4/ No point us fans bleating about it
