The Pretty Things name was taken from Bo Diddley's song Pretty Thing.

Khruangbin - Thai for aeroplane one of the band was learning thai and liked the word

The Fall - same name as Albert Camus novel

Thompson twins - after the twins in tintin
 
Bowie, as The Monkees had Davy Jones as their lead singer, he changed his name from Jones to Bowie, after the knife.

Volkswagen Golf. Was supposed to be “Gulf” but miscommunication stuck.
Beatles, a happy misspelling.
